Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

That would be a first if I ever experienced it! But ever since I had a road bike with white bar tape and changed a flat on the rear, I learned to carry a pair of disposable latex gloves in my toolkit.

Continuous motion, yes, but I think it puts extra stress on it if it's under a heavy load at the time. On my regular road bike I can definitely feel (and hear) the difference. I believe that some ebikes detect a shift and momentarily cut the motor to shift more smoothly.

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

Yes, I'm well aware of all that (after all, I've been riding for 50 years!), and I was thinking more about my conventional bikes where you can't always call on some extra torque to make up for having failed to shift in time. :D

Yeah - I ease up when shifting all my bikes, although it's difficult when I need to shift down (larger cog) when the going gets tough on a climb.

    Mastermind TCU Update

Regardless that this thread has already been hijacked by those two above :D, I was wondering if there might be "release notes" (if there is such a thing anymore) for this update. The video mentions a few new features and then add "and more" but where are the details? I did notice a couple of...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

My last two pairs of SPD bike shoes -- Louis Garneau and Shimano -- use the Boa lacing system, which I could not recommend more highly for both fit and convenience. It gives a very even pressure along the lacing area and is easily adjustable. You can even make adjustments without taking your...

Check out my post regarding the firmware update for the Mastermind TCU that appears to have just dropped today. A couple of useful features including motor lockout. https://electricbikereview.com/forums/threads/mastermind-tcu-update.48174/

    Mastermind TCU Update

While looking for something totally unrelated, I tripped onto a couple of Specialized videos posted just 4 hours ago (!) and talking about the newest update for Mastermind TCUs such as the one on my 2022 Vado SL 5.0. I installed it with no problems, and after an update also to the Mission...

Most links are reusable with reason, but the KMC links that I just got for the 12-speed chain on my SL says specifically Non-Reusable, probably due to the thinner link plates.

So you put it on the lower chain run and pedal forwards? If so, it seems like you'd be pulling the lower chain run (and putting tension on it) from the cassette end instead of the chainring end. Doesn't that stretch out the derailleur cage if there's a lot of drag from the tool? At least that's...

My wife's mid-motor Trek Verve+ with the Bosch system can be pedaled backwards to move the chain in that direction.

Not in any stores within 200 miles of me, but should be here by Thursday.

I'm not sure of the exact reason, but look down at your crank some time while you're pedaling and then stop pedaling. You'll see the crank gear make at least a partial revolution after the cranks arms have stopped moving. It's that "freewheel" clutch that is what also keeps you from turning it...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

This has probably been covered in the forum but maybe there's a fresh take on it. On my bikes, I've always done routine chain maintenance by using one of those chain cleaning devices that clamps around the chain, then let it dry and relube it, etc. I've always done this by turning the cranks...

Brought a new Vado 5.0 home today!

When I first had my new SL at home, I had a moment of panic when I couldn't find any keys in the equipment box! 😁

That mirror appears to be sold under a number of different brand names. I got mine in the U.S. from Amazon: Hafny Bar End Bike Mirror

Anybody Ride a Specialized Turbo Tero Yet?

I agree that this might be behind the reason for it being a Class 1 bike. Not only national parks, but also lots of other rail-trails and such pathways are posted "Class 1 only". I regularly ride my Class 3 Vado on them, keeping to a reasonable speed, but someday someone is going to start trying...

Vado SL 5.0 - lights go on when charging - how to turn them off?

Or because they re-purposed the buttons. The bottom button that operated the Vado light is now for Walk Mode, the "+" button that was Walk on the older Vado is now held in to activate Micro-tune, and the top button cycles the pages on the Mastermind TCU.

I thought I recognized your name. I've ridden a couple of those (road bike on Kickr CORE) since I like to do virtual rides in places that are especially interesting. I've also seen your posts in the FulGaz Riders group on FB.

Vado SL 5.0 - lights go on when charging - how to turn them off?

I'm still wishing for a way to turn the light off when I'm riding, as I think it's unnecessary and annoying to others when I'm riding off-road on paths or trails (which is 95% of my riding!). My Vado 4.0 supported this, why not the SL?
