fat bike advice to my eye doc

If you were around from the beginning like I was, you would know the apex of fat tire e-mountain bikes has come and passed. This site alone, when Court was running it, was probably as big an influence on e-fat tired mtb sales in the us as anyone else. It's worth it just to check out his reviews...

Following Yamaha out the door: Stromer is bailing out of the US Market

Friend of the forum, @Ravi Kempaiah was once setting speed and distance records on a Stromer, covered here by Court and at the now defunct Electric Bike Action magazine. Probably around the same time when Chris Nolte at Propel ebikes in NYC was going gangbusters. Haibike USA was the big kahuna...

    Yamaha Leaving US Market

Reading that letter, it's just the US. You know, that small, backwater market with only 360 million people! Which is the shame of it all, cause the Euro market is dominated by Bosch. And they get favorable press there, what with E-Mountain Bike Magazine's favoritism towards Bosch...

    Yamaha Leaving US Market

Now, I get to enjoy ownership of an e-mountain fat bike that features both a bike brand (Haibike) and it's drive system (Yamaha) that will both soon be forever gone from the US market....... Thanks, Haibike and Yamaha! I think what we're looking at goes beyond Yamaha. It's the result of what I...

Yamaha battery seems difficult to source and is a tad expensive....

Jim, my Haibike Full FatSix is a model year 2016 PW drive system with external battery. For any info I need, I use the below manual, the Yamaha X94 PW drive system manual & downloaded it onto my computer: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/975488/Yamaha-X94-Series.html

Old man, new bike, massive hills, lesson learned

Yamaha's Wabash gravel bike features an 11 speed rear cluster, (Shimano CS-M7000 11-42t). Same motor set up as yours, OP. Worth it to see if the components on Wabash are a direct fit (minus the shifter as it's made for the randennour handlebar). But that is a question to ask of your trusted...

Old man, new bike, massive hills, lesson learned

Let's see..... sell a perfectly fine ebike at a loss and buy something with "more power". or Invest 150 to 200 bucks on an mtb-style geared derailleur drive train & with that Yamaha motor and battery, know that you're gonna get 10's of thousands more of trouble free miles on that bike. I'll...

Old man, new bike, massive hills, lesson learned

I think your issue is too high of gearing for the terrain you have in those hills. Looking at the Yamaha website, your bike has an 11-36 tooth rear cassette, 9 speed with a 44 tooth front chain ring. A check of the Moro mountain bike on their website shows an 11-46 tooth rear cassette with an...

Advice on adding 2nd battery to Evelo Omega

You as well, Revor and stay cool in that Mississippi heat and humidity. I hope Evelo helps you out with a new piggyback setup.

Advice on adding 2nd battery to Evelo Omega

Shawn, have you spoken directly to Evelo? It's possible they can provide part numbers and sources to kit together your own factory-like piggy back battery, provided they can't sell you a new setup, outright. Or they can expedite a piggy back kit for you, a valued customer. I just looked up your...

    My rear rack broke.

Part 2: Aside from the Surly steel racks, the best racks going are the Old Man Mountain racks. They feature constant revisions by the new owner of OMM, The Robert Axle Project folks. An OMM rack will not fit your rear axle cause the OMM design uses a through-axle. Not doable on your rear hub...

    My rear rack broke.

Idle thoughts..... I feel your pain, @PCeBiker. I've never had a rack break on me, but there's nothing like having an on-road failure that wakes you up as to the design and build failures of our bikes. Some thoughts for you to contemplate as I am a "rack guy" who wants the ability to lug as...

HELP!! Derestricting the 2019/20 Yamaha Crosscore.

Look into PearTune: https://www.pear-control.com/yamaha A few years back, I wanted to derestrict my Haibike Full FatSix's PW motor. I contacted Katerina at PearTune and she instantly responded back with my questions answered. After installing it, whenever I want that extra boost in speed to...

    Life Gone in an Instant

Recommended air pump to carry on bike

I second the Lezyne Micro Floor Drive pump. My Haibike Full FatSix features 26 x 4.0 tires so it requires a large volume pump. The Lezyne fits that requirement. Have used it enough on the road fixing flats that it's worth every penny.

    International transport of an ebike

Agree with @6zfshdb on this one. Cut your losses by selling it in France and purchase an ebike with a reputable drive system back home in Australia. If you ever venture back to France, look into renting an ebike.

Vado 5 IGH - Squeaking Noise

@mattie_b: I love how a plan comes together! Again, keep in mind, as the miles accumulate and the dirt builds up, the squeaking will likely return as it did on my Soho DLX; but not a big deal once the offending noise has been identified. Happy miles and trails!

Vado 5 IGH - Squeaking Noise

Mattie, from my own experience, there is no need to take anything apart. Everything can be cleaned, in place. Regards to the front and rear ring, clean and inspect the exposed gear teeth, then rotate to expose more dirty teeth. Maybe a good time to check the belt tension, as well, with an...

Vado 5 IGH - Squeaking Noise

Noises like that would drive me bonkers as well. I have a 2013 Trek Soho DLX with the Gates Carbon Drive. Back when I was riding that bike, I began to hear a slight squeaking noise coming from either front sprocket or belt. It only got louder as the miles built up. I found the teeth on the belt...

My GIANT Entour + year 2020

I have a 2016 model year Haibike Full FatSix that I began riding in April, 2017. Close to 20 thousand miles (US miles, not Km) on the odometer. Like you, I've gone through a good number of large front chain rings (I've since gone to a Shimano steel front ring to cut back on the kind of wear the...
