I'm happy for you with your renewed faith via getting a rusty motor completely replaced 5 months past a 2 year warranty. Normally, out of warranty and assuming you're not lucky :), if any of the sensors go, DU circuit board, etc. goes then i think you'll be paying $1000 plus for a new DU.

A changelog details new features, fixes etc. for a released version. A roadmap details new features to come alongside a timeline. Release-notes with both sets of info without dates released or status of release is confusing to me.

Electronics is a very fixed at design time/manufacture thing, however software & hardware can be tightly integrated these days. Temperature, overload & other factors can change the "design" of the Electronics over time. Yes you can design for change but there is a limit, software is often best...
