    Pinion MGU

Found my next ebike https://downtown-mag.com/en/kettler-pinniato-ht-comfort-with-pinion-mgu-e-1-9-motor/ The 568% gearrange is overkill considering 11-46t cassette is about 440% and more than enough for trekking bike with loaded trailer or 45kmhr commuter. Going to 400-450% would give smaller...

Specialized Vado 4 vs Gazelle Ultimate 380+ (long)

While top loading in frame battery on Gazelle is fiddly, there is no chance of it falling out. Needing key instal it is biggest gripe. Had old powerpacks fall off when not clicked home correctly. Given choice go with powertube as broken powerpack batteries are very expensive to replace, even...

Specialized Vado 4 vs Gazelle Ultimate 380+ (long)

Buy phone mount and find app that displays everything you need or bike computer like garmin. I had Intuvia and replaced for Purion as found Intuvia to distracting. Prefer to look at scenery than a computer display. About only thing I miss on Intuvia is time, just to know if I'm running late on...

    Choose between Vado3 or 4, or Tero3.0

I ride moustache xroad which is similar style trekking bike to Vado 4. They can be ridden on smooth MTB tracks but its more of case of getting through than having fun at speed. If you want to enjoy MTB tracks buy Tero. For comfortable long distance riding the Vado.

    What causes loose spokes

With ebike should be tensioning rear wheel every 6 months, especially on cheaper models. Once spokes start breaking really up for rebuild which should result in stronger wheel. I've broken few spokes on my Trek 29 ebike none on higher mileage 27.5" Cube and Moustaches (10,000km). Suspect it is...

A quick ride review of the Vado SL 4.0

I'd start with 11-46 or 11-50t cassette. You will need new longer chain. Do your homework on 11-50t cassette as derailleur may not support it.

Thoughts on Turbo Vado 4.0, Gazelle C380+, and Aventon.

Looks like new Smart System Performance Line motor has had power increase from 65nm to 75nm. Should be similar to my old gen2 CX motor. Which is worth another gear on climbs compared to my 65nm Performance Line.

Thoughts on Turbo Vado 4.0, Gazelle C380+, and Aventon.

Make sure to practice removing rear wheel at home. Because of belt drive likely to need more than multitool. Murphy says it will be wet and miserable when you get a puncture, not time find out your tool kit isn't upto job.

What to compare Priority current to?

The weight is only issue if you need to carry it on regular basis eg up stairs to access apartment. In case of bike rack just remove battery to lighten it. Outside that weight does matter especially when riding.

Best method/kit to bleed shimano brakes

After cleaning calipers push pistons out slightly and apply some fluid on cotton bud to lub pistons. Then remove excess with dry rag. Seen hack where bleed block is modified so one piston at a time can be pushed out. A bit of googling should find it on youtube.

    Scott Sub Cross Eride 20

I've also seen through axles work loose and a wheel almost come off. Quick release can be replace by bolts if you are that concerned about it. Just need to carry spanner in tool kit.

    Scott Sub Cross Eride 20

Millions of bikes have quick release on front and rear wheels. If they were that big an issue manufacturers wouldn't use. Tighten them correctly and you will never have an problem.

    Scott Sub Cross Eride 20

The scott is trekking style so there is a bit of weight on your hands, not as bad as MTBs. Checkout the Gazelle range as they maybe more upright. On both bikes you can change your riding position by adjusting stem and bring handlebars more upright.

need advice on new mid-priced mountain e-bike w/ these features…

Do some test rides of quality FS eMTBs like trek powerfly range and Stance. Try both E+2 and E+1. E+1 has more power and better components ie suspension, shifters and brakes. The 70nm motor will still climb OK but extra power of 85nm means you can have lot more fun on climbs, especially switchbacks.

need advice on new mid-priced mountain e-bike w/ these features…

Need budget and suspension travel eg 140-150, 160-170mm. These for 27.5" wheels 29" tend to use less travel for same bike as large wheels help. For long term support can't go wrong with mainstream manufacturers using, Shimano, Bosch, Brose(Specialized) or Yamaha motors . When cames to bike...

Thinking of maybe getting a Gazelle C380, but I'd like to consider alternatives

Entry level brakes a fine for most users but they do require you to squeeze brake leveler harder than on higher quality brakes. The 4 pots on Vado 5.0 are overkill for trekking bike doesn't mean they aren't nice to have.

Thinking of maybe getting a Gazelle C380, but I'd like to consider alternatives

Should be possible to lower gearing on Vado 3.0. Will need larger rear sprocket which is likely to mean new belt. Not sure sizes belts come in as may need equivalent of few extra links/teeth. I'd price everything before buying bike as may just workout better to buy Vado.

Thinking of maybe getting a Gazelle C380, but I'd like to consider alternatives

If you are apply to regularly oil and clean a chain then bike with derailluer isn't good choice. The other downside is you can't shift while stopped. Besides the Nuvinci 380 Internal Geared Hub (IGH) there are also bikes with Shimanos Nexus 8spd IGH, some with belt others with singlespeed...
