Gazelle Medeo or Ultimate T10+ Questions

It worth giving stepthru c380 a try but it does have class 2 motor. For leisure riding never felt need for more speed. Commuting and running errands then class 3 is nice to have. Looking at photos seems to be quite bit of clearance on tires so may take 28x2.35 Johnny Watts at very less Big Ben...

Looking for the perfect e-bike (if that exists)… for me!

FS is still better than HT on road especially high speed downhill riding which poster is likely to be doing lot of. While my HT commuter is stable at speed downhill the FS MTB is far superior. Hit rough patch on HT and it can become little shaky while FS isn't fazed at all.

Encinitas City Council declares emergency for e-bikes, bicycles

When rental is finished need to take photo to show it is parked responsibly. The scooter companies never look at photos based on what I've observed. Simple solution is docking stations or fixed parking areas. Means users will need to walk further.

Encinitas City Council declares emergency for e-bikes, bicycles

Biggest safety issue here is rental scooters that do 25kmhr on footpath, then dump scooter in middle of footpath. I can see why Paris banned them. They are a great transport tool, problem is humans that use them. Need to give scooter some smarts so adapts its speed to rider at time, eg 10kmhr...

    Replace 36 v battery by a 48v

Making controller and display work across a wide range of voltages is cheap. Motors are different and their power output is maximised for running voltage. A 48V motor run at 36V will be less powerful, more expensive and heavier. Can't see why manufacturer would fit one to 36V bike.

Brakes levers stopping motor? How to fix?

There aren't lot of options that have brake switch inbuilt. Magura if you want best but not cheap as rotors will also need replacing. Aliexpress special but long term reliability could be issue with cheap hydraulics. Cheap cables playup but don't tend to suddenly stop working without warning...

Brakes levers stopping motor? How to fix?

XT and XTRs have pre lubed coatings. Add extra lube and yoi undo all good work by factory. When they start playing up after 1000s kms its time for replacement either just inner or both.

What is the expected lifespan of the Bosch drive unit?

Think MTBing in wet killed two gen 2 CX motors. 3rd upto 8000kms but not lot of MTBing and then in dry. Our two bikes with Gen3 Performance line motors have done 11000kms each and I commute in all weathers. Edit. Forgot CX HT which did about 10,000kms with no issues was mainll used as commuter...

Brakes levers stopping motor? How to fix?

Not so with high quality shifter cables. Cheap cable brakes maybe different story.

    Replace 36 v battery by a 48v

Why. Risk burning your motor out unless you know for sure its rated for 48v, should be printed on it.

Any comments on these battery-powered tire pumps?

Only need enough charge to fully inflate a couple of bike tires. Given it can be charged by any USB source recharging shouldn't be problem between uses.

Any comments on these battery-powered tire pumps?

If you buy one check pressure gauge calibration against know source. Easiest way is to use local garage forecourt pump (assume its accurate) to set your car tires and see what electric pump measures. My pump is 2psi high when inflating but accurate when stopped.

Any comments on these battery-powered tire pumps?

I bought this Ryobi inflator for bike tires as seem to be forever changing them for one reason and another. Brillant for bike tires also good for topping up car, caravan and boat tires. Always in car when we go away. Can see case for smaller USB chargeable ones when bike touring. Would...

    2023 Trek Fx+ and Dual Sport+

If weight is issue loading on bike rack, consider upgrading to platform rack. We bought Thule XT EasyFolder 2 bike rack few years ago. Very expensive but worth every penny, makes transporting bikes a breeze. Fitting and loading is a quick as shown, being folding easy to store. I don't use ramp...

Any Users of the Bosch Smart System e-Bikes Here?

There are lot of trails that don't allow class 3 bikes which is why Bosch powered MTBs tend to be class 2. Bosch offer two 28mph motors. Speed which is 85nm CX motor with different power curve, gives more support at higher speed. The Sport which is 75nm PerformanceLine (recently upgraded from...

Poll - Did you upgrade from Cadence Sensing to Torque Sensing?

Yamaha and Bosch only do torque sensing. In turbo mode its not lot different from cadence when comes to pedalling effort. Some of Yamaha motors provide instantaneous power when applying pressure to pedal while Bosch requires about quarter turn. Yamaha makes MTB steep hill starts easier...

Possible to convert an Enviolo to a Rohloff?

If you do switch to Rohloff probably cheaper to build or buy new wheel. This allows you to sell enviolo as complete wheel or to fit to bike if you sell it.
