    Best battery charging practice.

Great… This is exactly what I have been doing and I just wanted to confirm that it is better to wait until the last minute to fully charge a battery and then use it, rather than charging them fully immediately after a ride. Thanks!

Sizing + Urban Rush and Wabash

Yeah, I have to admit I also found the price to be a bit steep. At least the shop knocked $300 off the list price. But once the pain of the $$ wears off, there’s no looking back! The bike is just great, especially since I swapped the nasty saddle for a Brooks I had on another bike.

Sizing + Urban Rush and Wabash

Hi Catbiscuit, I don’t mean to complicate your bike purchasing process, but if you’re looking for an electric gravel bike, could I suggest that you check out the Bulls Grinder Evo? I bought one about two weeks ago and have ridden 300 miles on it so far and really enjoy it. The key...

    Best battery charging practice.

Well... I had read somewhere in this forum that you could increase the number of charges that a battery pack could deliver in its lifetime by 50% if you didn’t charge it more than 90 percent... and that you could double the life if you didn’t charge more than 80 percent of capacity. But I like...

    Best battery charging practice.

Here’s a question about battery charging that I’ve been wondering about: If I top off my battery pack first thing in the morning, right before I go on a ride, is that significantly better for longevity than topping the pack off the night before? Does charging to 95+ percent harm the battery...

    EBike Shaming

I don’t think being reverent is one of the requirements for a scout anymore. Remember, several years ago they removed the requirement that scouts have to believe in God, a.k.a. the big guy in the clouds

    Class 3 Legality?

I bought a Bulls Grinder Evo a few weeks ago and have been loving it. It’s an aluminum drop bar bike with slightly flared handlebars and 40c tires… wide enough to handle rutted dirt roads with aplomb. Plus it has a suspension fork that you can lock out or adjust the dampening effect on. It’s a...

Will the popularity of tuning kill eBikes?

The irony about condemning tuning is that it is legal and not dangerous... and definitely not irresponsible, so long as the tuning simply raises the assist speed from 20 to 28 mph. I live in Maine and here, as in most states, Class 3 pedelecs are legal on roads. So, if you want to transform...

Is Bosch off on its speed calculations?

Biffo1262, Doesn’t the magnet on the wheel have to be aligned with the sensor mounted on the chain stay? If you move the magnet elsewhere on the spoke, it wouldn’t trip the sensor to display your speed. And no matter where on the spoke one fixes the magnet, even if the sensor were moved to...

Bulls Grinder EVO - Initial Thoughts

The bike actually does come with racks and fenders, but the OEM racks could accommodate only panniers and not a trunk bag. I didn’t need a heavy duty rack, so I installed the Blackburn… I was just looking for a place to mount my tail light and a rack to support a trunk bag. The motor is...

    Looking for ebike

Rick, Like you, I recently was focused on identifying an ebike that could handle both pavement and gravel. Plus, I wanted drop bars and an assisted speed of up to 28 mph. $5k was my maximum budget. I whittled my choices down to a Giant Road-E+ Pro and the Bulls Grinder Evo. The creaky motor...

Bulls Grinder EVO - Initial Thoughts

So.. since the Grinder Eco is not that common, I thought I'd post a few pics of my latest ride. As I wrote earlier, I removed the OEM rack and fenders and installed a Blackburn rack with the 8L Ridewell Trunk bag (nice design, not too big). I installed a Supernova E3 Taillight 2 (where do they...

What % of any given day do you spend thinking about your bike?

Because I believe it’s very important to lead a balanced and healthy lifestyle, I rigorously discipline myself to think about cycling no more than 90% of any given day.

    Derestrict your Bosch/Trek e-bike?

Is the only negative result of Bosch’s delimiter detection capability on its new firmware updates the fact that it will invalidate the warranty? I read somewhere that if you reinstall the delimiter one or two more times after detection, the firmware will turn your motor into a...

US National Park Service Announces Policy for Electric Bicycle Use in National Parks

It’s always a relief- and these days somewhat of a novelty- to have the federal government enact a policy that is sensible, humane and environmentally benign.

Bulls Grinder EVO - Initial Thoughts

Ah, that would be a sweet ride— you should call Barney Franco at Bulls (844-442-8557) and ask them to import that model!

Bulls Grinder EVO - Initial Thoughts

I just bought my first bike, a Bulls Grinder EVO, so I thought I might as well take a few minutes to review the bike and introduce myself, since up til now I’ve been lurking about this forum in order to learn a bit about Ebikes and what to expect from them. I’m 66 years old, live near the coast...

New Powertube battery doesn't quite deliver

First things first: a piece of string is generally considered to be 3 feet long. There, settled! 😎 Next, thank you everyone, for chiming in with your comments. I want to say that this site is great-- there are obviously many knowledgeable folks here who are well-versed with e-bikes. And...

New Powertube battery doesn't quite deliver

So... this is my first new thread on this forum. I've been lurking on EBR for a few weeks, learning what I can about bikes, batteries, best practices, realistic expectations and so forth. Bit the bullet a few days ago and ordered a Bulls Grinder EVO speed pedelec, which I picked up yesterday...
