    Electric Car thread

It's quite an endeavor to bring a vehicle to market in the USA, especially strange little ones like that. I remember the Dale car and the 10 years behind schedule Elio, people have paid deposits and are still waiting for delivery that never comes. Is it a motorcycle or car, do you need a...

    Electric Car thread

I'm a fan of the old air cooled VW's, I had lots of them as a kid. I'd buy a new one today if I could. I like the soon to come electric VW bus. At least they tried to stay true to the original design as far as the aesthetics and didn't just poach the name. I can kind of see the old air cooled...

    Electric Car thread

Not yet, but I hope to someday. Battery technology is making progress and maybe the Infrastructure bill passed by the US congress last year will infuse some much needed money into a usable charging infrastructure. Electric cars are very doable and are coming despite the petroleum industry and...

Show us pictures of your cockpit!

I was running out of usable real estate on my bars, so I bought this chingas. Works good and I still have room for a H2o bottle holder coming soon.

Where are your favorite places to ride?

My favorite areas are along the bike paths that run along the pacific coast. Great temperature year round mostly and lots of people to see, lots of shops and pubs. A most relaxing and active way to spend time alone or with your S/O. Ventura Marina, Ventura Ca. this morning.

How to improve bike and pedestrian safety

Yep, spoken like a motorcyclist, as a 40 plus year M/C rider I thought the same thing. The sad fact here was that a 13 Y/O was in a unsafe situation and didn't have the experience to recognize it.

Hiplok D1000 - Cutoff Wheel Resistant Lock

That lock seems quite robust, but as the saying goes, "a lock is only as strong as it's weakest link". So any chain needs to be as tough to cut through and if it is, and if it's chained to the typical pipe bike rack, 30 seconds with a hand operated pipe cutter will cut through that so the thief...

How to improve bike and pedestrian safety

I think in California, the die was cast by the corrupt powers to be when they did away with the Red Cars and influenced everyone to buy a car. We here are hopelessly addicted to our cars and any talk of public transportation is quickly shot down. Very depressing but I try to do my part, mostly...

How to improve bike and pedestrian safety

Not to mention, fast, clean, safe, 21st century public transportation that is accessible by everyone, including people who don't reside in major cities. I would love to hop on a maglev train or other modern type train and bebop to S.F. for the weekend, and be able to catch a train locally.

Online companies vs the Established bike manufacturers

I grew up putting 2 stroke motors on bicycles, so a throttle on an e bike made sense to me. Think Whizzer. :)

Online companies vs the Established bike manufacturers

Not me, Chromebooks and Android phones here. Google OS is great. I don't even use a mouse anymore, I can do everything on the trackpad that I can do with a mouse.

    Class 3 restrictions - California

Yeah, same in Southern California, I just ride with common sense and respect and I've never been questioned by any authority. If I come up behind someone, if it seems appropriate, I slow way down and say "behind, behind".

    Ebike tour of Puglia, Italy

I make my own tours I guess. I load up our bikes in my truck and we go to where we feel like being, the beach, the mountains, or the desert. That's wonderful thing about where i live, a couple hours drive or less I can be riding in my choice of environment. I'm not sure I would enjoy a group...

    Juiced RipRacer vs. RadRunner 1.

Excellent! Make a good connection, Be sure the crimpers are compatible with the connectors, check all the wires in the vicinity to be sure, and then get some good insulating tape and "Bob's your uncle". Just how I would make the repair.

    My bikes went missing!

Dirty f***ing thieving bas*ards. So sorry to hear about that. I had my garage and shed burgled once, it's a really unbelievable feeling, to know somebody took your stuff. A few years back I was evacuated for a wildfire and when I was allowed back in some looters had tried to gain entry by...

    Shipping nightmare core-5

If the bike isn't damaged, all is good? Shippers are pretty rough on big cartons and don't care as much as I think they should handling the packages. Sometimes they put the tape on during shipping, I know USPS does when one is coming apart. My bike's carton was jacked up too, but inside was...

    Juiced RipRacer vs. RadRunner 1.

Fair enough then, good luck with the sale, I think it will disappear quickly at that price. I only wish I were local to you and I would offer to repair the damaged wires for you. Cheers for now.

    Juiced RipRacer vs. RadRunner 1.

I can't tell in the pic for sure, but it looks like you may have only cut the outer sheath and nicked the conductor wire's insulation. If so you should be able to carefully open the black insulation and wrap the exposed conductor wires. If they are almost cut through, it should be easy enough...

    Juiced RipRacer vs. RadRunner 1.

Yes, some deep breaths are needed it seems. Okay now, what exactly do you mean, you snipped the housing in the wire? Cut the insulation? Post some pics will be helpful and maybe it's an easy fix. Serenity now.

    Hydraulic Brake Question

Quite normal. Your stopping power is always going to be from the front brakes, the rear brakes, even working optimally will be lacking in comparison.
