My updated Trek Domane +HP review - now with 4565 miles on it

I think you will love the Nyon. So many customizable screens to show you everything you could possibly want. The nav is decent but still has some glitches. Overall I think its the best cycle computer out there, and certainly the best when combined with the Bosch motor. Several other threads...

My updated Trek Domane +HP review - now with 4565 miles on it

Sadly I have the original first edition Domane+ and that engine is not upgradable.

My updated Trek Domane +HP review - now with 4565 miles on it

Can you replace the 500 W battery on the Domane+ with the 625? It would certainly be preferable than carrying another battery.

My updated Trek Domane +HP review - now with 4565 miles on it

I too put the Bontrager Aeolus Pro 3V TLR Disc Road 700x28 Wheels that come on the better non electric Domane bikes on to my Domane + and I seem to average about 2mph better than the 35mm that came on the bike originally. The wheels and the Nyon are the only two upgrades I have done, and Im...

    Nyon MY21 - Initial Thoughts

I agree. Personally I find this the most serious flaw. There are many times when you want to join a route half way through, or pause the route guidance because you want to detour for a while. Sometime I only need route guidance on the way back along a route. Nyon has a hard time in these...

    Custom Riding Modes for Nyon

I thoroughly agree. Somewhere between eco and tour is the sweet spot for almost all casual riding. My Domane+ only has a single (virtual) 50 tooth front chain ring, and weighs twice what my regular cannondale. Although this is not technically true, in my mind I think of eco as removing the...

    Custom Riding Modes for Nyon

On the occasions you've described, its easy to set a custom mode that provides higher assistance at low speeds. Especially good for taking off at lights, or when you've got a heavy load. This gets you up to speed within the first 10 or so pedals and then you can moderate it down to whatever...

    Nyon MY21 - Initial Thoughts

People often ask me why I bought an e-bike... I live at the top of a mountain, and every ride I do looks like this...enough said.

    Nyon MY21 - Initial Thoughts

Thank you, thank you. With the Bosch connect app opened on my phone to the My e-bike page and the phone close enough for blue tooth, it worked perfectly! Now I can see the weather without having to look up at the sky! Don't know how we ever survived without it! 😉

    Nyon MY21 - Initial Thoughts

Has anyone had any success with getting the weather to sync? I get the feeling that this has to sync over bluetooth, not wifi, but I'm not sure. I called Bosch USA and they couldn't get theirs to work either. That's disappointing. In Las Vegas I'm not in danger of getting rained on, but the...

    Nyon MY21 - Initial Thoughts

I was half way through a ride that I commonly do, and was getting low on battery. I loaded up the route in nav and told it to start from next point. It did that successfully providing the correct blue line home, but no turn directions or ETA or battery info. This was disappointing, I cancelled...

    Trek Domane +HP 2021

Just updated my Nyon which now includes several new features including a) updated maps (to about 9 months ago), b) a new total screen that shows elevation of your entire ride, and c) a weather screen that gives you hour by hour weather when synced to your phone, d) charge information about your...

    Trek Domane +HP 2021

Seems like it cost me some where around $150 to have it installed. It took them several hours I think. That is pretty expensive, but a) this was the first time the store had done this so I'm sure it was slow for them, b) my dealer is good but overpriced, c) I have ridden about 500 miles with the...

    Custom Riding Modes for Nyon

Quite similar to the setting I posted on May 24th. Not quite as silly as it seems. Well done.

    Custom Riding Modes for Nyon

The power needed to overcome drag = 1/2 * v^3 * Cd. Simplisitically, being in a tuck is helpful, but cutting velocity reduces power requirements to the third power. So, if you're car is low on gas, or your bike battery is low on electricity, the best thing to do is slow down.

    Custom Riding Modes for Nyon

The Kathmandu looks like the perfect bike for long coastal rides. Some Cube bikes use the fazua system, but the Bosch is better suited for your rides. You are an inspiration.

    Custom Riding Modes for Nyon

Admittedly this mode is kinda silly, and could certainly use some massaging, but it actually rides kinda like an automatic gearbox. From a start there's plenty of torque, that drops off at about 14 mph, which is an easy cruising speed, almost without having to change gears. Incidentally, this is...

    Custom Riding Modes for Nyon

For me the standard modes are just fine most of the time. I usually ride about 50% off, 40% on eco, and 10% in tour. I have two custom modes, one sensible, and one kinda silly: Sometimes eco (55% assist) is not quite enough but tour (120% assist) is a bit too much, so Mode 1 is half way in...

    Trek Domane +HP 2021

After waiting 9 months for it to arrive, I recently got the Bosch Nyon computer put on my Domane+. A special thanks to my local bike shop who had to pull my first generation Domane+ completely apart to do the retrofit. (If you own a more recent Domane+ that isn't necessary.) Although I still...

My updated Trek Domane +HP review - now with 4565 miles on it

I have often hoped that the 625 would be backwards compatible with the 500. Although Im not strong enough to ride long enough to drain my 500 battery, I have often thought a 625 would cover almost any ride, without having to resort to carrying a second battery. My old first generation domane+...
