Where did you get your ebike?

2016 Haibike XDuro Trekking, I had to drive from Ontario, Canada to New Hampshire to pick it up.

Question about e-bikes and car racks

We use a platform rack with a 2" hitch mount for our 2 ebikes, it works very well on our Outback.

Help, controller says battery dead, it isnt

Update: It was a bad controller, we managed to get through our vacation by developing work arounds and choosing our routes. Our thanks to the folks at Scooteretti and the it service department.

Help, controller says battery dead, it isnt

OK, error code 13 is electrical. Some have resolved it with a firmware update, not happening on our vacation, I will check the wiring and try cleaning the contacts to see if that helps at all.

Help, controller says battery dead, it isnt

DW's Evo City Wave is having controller problems. We are in Bar Harbor on vacation, this is her 4th time out with the bike. On power up, everything looks good for an instant, then it shows a 28 error code, flashes low battery and then gives a 13 error code and a triangle with an exclamation...

my online buying experience with a Wisconsin dealer

My experience buying online was nothing but the best, when you buy a new car, it is not unusual to have miles on the odo, up here, under a couple of hundred kilometers is still considered new. To the OP, sorry you were unhappy with your deal, but it doesn't sound as if you lost anything.

Do you get more exercise riding an electric bike?

There are too many hills in our area for me to enjoy riding my regular bike as I get older. I've had my ebike for almost a year and look for excuses to get it out and go riding.

Are there Trunk Racks strong enough for an ebike?

We have 3 hitch-mounted racks, a suspension rack and two platform racks. We started with the suspension rack, but when DW bought her first cruiser bike, we went to the platform style. The first of the platform racks, while fitted for a 2" receiver, was made out of 11/4" square stock, with both...

Are there Trunk Racks strong enough for an ebike?

We just had a hitch installed on our Outback, which I believe shares the Legacy frame. The dealer charge was going to be near $1,000, we got it done at a local truck center for $350 including the wiring. If you go with a hitch, I strongly recommend a 2" receiver as well as a lockable...

    Are throttles the devil?

DW is transitioning from an Amazon ebike to an Easy Motion, torque sensing, with throttle. The Amazon bike had a very rudimentary cadence sensing system that was basically an on/off switch. We went for our first ride over the weekend, She is still getting used to the gears, but we both enjoyed...

tools: what do you take on a ride?

Pump, 2 tubes, tire levers, wd40, cotton cloths, wrenches, screwdrivers, hex drivers, travel first aid kit, gps, cell phone, lights, spare batteries, valve adapters, sun block, rain/wind shell, Swiss Army Knife, spoke wrench, spare spokes, spare cash.

Safety precautions while riding a bike

I have worn a helmet for over 40 years, back in the 70's I had a red plastic flag attached to the rear rack that stuck out about 12" to the left; it was great for increasing my personal space. Now I use a flashing led, I have one and so does DW, they are great, but I almost find them too bright...

E bikes with a full range of gears

500, 48 volt, DW likes the throttle, so our ranges should be similar.

E bikes with a full range of gears

I must correct myself, it's the Evo City Wave, still a nice bike and DW can't wait to try it out. I bought myself an Xduro Trekking last year and love it. We're heading down to New England in June for a cycling holiday, I haven't done that in 30 years.

E bikes with a full range of gears

I picked up an Evo Street model on sale for under $2k US. I had it shipped to a UPS store close to the border, drove down, picked it up and paid the HST when I brought it back to Canada. It cost $100 to have a lbs assemble it; all-in price, around $3k Canadian......now if the snow would only...

E bikes with a full range of gears

I have an Exduro Trekking Pro, 27 gear combinations, in all honesty, I pretty much live in the middle chain ring, sometimes dropping to the lower sprocket on a steep hill.

    Best no hassle commuter ebike?

Best is a relative term, what is best for one, may be unsuitable for another. Some things you would probably want to consider: Mag wheels (no spokes); 500 watt motor, 48 volt battery; throttle capability (you don't have to pedal); rear hub motor (more rear hub motors support throttles)...

    Throttle vs. No throttle

I have a Haibike Xduro, Bosch drive, no throttle, DW tried out a Watseka last year and this year she is upgrading to the City Wave. I don't mind not having a throttle, DW insists on one. It will be interesting to see how DW likes torque sensing as opposed to cadence, I am betting she will...

    Great places to ride

There are some nice rides in New England. Route 1a and 1b south of Portsmouth, Nh are great to ride on, quiet roads, great scenery and beaches such as Rye beach and Hampton beach. Acadia national park is another great spot. The loop road around the park is a great 25 mile ride, rugged...

    thoughts/suggestions on bike work stands

If you go to Amazon and search on ATV lifts you will get some choices. You will probably have to build some sort of cradle to hold the bike and perhaps a ramp but it should be doable. Macky
