High-step frames are more rigid, less "frame flex" and better for high speed or intense trail riding. If you're not doing either of those things, always go for the step-thru :)
Best spot is here: https://electricbikereview.com/forums/forum/choosing/ - lots of great information already in that subforum and you can create a new thread if you don't find the info you need :)
Court jumps in to reply to things here when he can, but he is also way too busy and forgets...
I'm not referring to manufacturer participation; I'm referring to how that thread descended into a flame war.
No, my point is that you had a problem with your brakes, you thought Rize should fix it, and they refused to do so. You've shared your experience very clearly and that is much...
@Spatzi and @jaizon (and everybody), let's keep it respectful please :) this is starting to sound like Spatzi's Biktrix thread and there is no point in this one running the same course.
Spatzi, I know it sucks to have these issues not covered, but brake pads are considered a wear-and-tear item...
I don't own one, but I have spent quite a bit of time with them when I reviewed four of their 2020 models earlier this year. You can check those out here.
I came pretty close to buying an XS for myself, it was my favorite out of their lineup.
Hey wings02, I think they have done free shipping promotions in the past, but those were special limited time situations. They do charge for shipping now, but $97 is a pretty good deal for that.
Sounds like you got replacement pads and may be set... But for what it's worth, I've heard this exact sound on several different hydraulic disc-brake equipped bikes. Kind of surprised that more people haven't. Most recent one was a Juiced RipCurrent S, but last year it happened on a new Trek...
This is correct... but not for long! I'm upgrading the forums to use elasticsearch which will allow searching for shorter words... among other improvements.
I don't have a firm date for this upgrade yet, but should be within the next month :)
I live in Fort Collins, CO.
The place where park rangers told me my Ebike wasn't allowed was right here: https://goo.gl/maps/E2wvUocUAKWKuJJy7
The trail by the river there is actually paved, so I have no idea why no Ebikes.
EDIT - actually looking at the map there it does transition to dirt...
In my case it's official looking signs posted at the various trailheads, and on some occasions outside of town I have seen park rangers there enforcing it. The signs are actually fairly new, but a couple months ago I was just riding around for fun and the park rangers stopped me to ask if it was...
That's the way to do it! I've got an old-school Azuki that I use for the same purpose. Anything downtown that I'll be at for awhile or overnight... no way I'm taking a nice ebike.
For everything else though it's ebike all the way. I do want to get a regular MTB at some point though... Lots...
@jaizon I have the Charge 3 which I picked up used on Craigslist for $50 and it works great. It does auto-record, but if you start the activity manually it can leverage your phone GPS and get you speed and map data as well:
They have some other ones such as the Ionic which have built-in GPS...
That's so cool! Sounds like lots of amazing rides are in your future :)
When riding my ebike in the mountains I'll sometimes get passed on the uphill by someone on a normal road bike, those folks are amazing athletes.
I ended up disabling the auto start on mine, because it would always log motorcycle rides as outdoor bike 🤣
Awesome rides! It really is a great workout. I did one about 50 miles a few days ago, got just as much of a workout as I would have on a regular bike... just went much farther and faster.
Hey everyone,
There was a great deal of fighting, accusations, and disrespectful behavior in this thread. This is why we temporarily removed it from public view. Court has personally spoken on the phone with Spatzi and Roshan, to facilitate working out this problem outside of the forum.
I...
This happens a lot, I would say it's much more rare that manufacturer's websites are spot on for all specs. This is precisely why we measure and weigh everything and inspect all components :)
From manufacturers I have talked to, it seems that there is often a disconnect or delay from the...
No Ebike is perfect, this is a thread dedicated to sharing known issues or problems with electric bikes from Zen as well as any help and solutions you know of. Sometimes that means a DIY fix and other times it can mean a recall, software update or part replacement by a dealer.
Please be...
