    rack for ST-1

There are some really good options. I never got the city kit because it's not strong enough to support the 30-50 lbs. of stuff I sometimes take on long trips of 100 miles or more--tent, sleeping bag, Stromer batteries, charger, etc., etc. So I looked around and opted for the Ibera Pak Rak...

    Thudbuster / Body Float

I have had the TB LT1 for 10 months. 1866 miles later--many on very rough streets in Cincinnati and on sometimes bouncy rails to trails (like the entire Katy Trail in Missouri), the LT1 combined with my Brooks B67 are perfect. I used to experience a lot of discomfort, but no more. I weigh 220...

    Front Racks/Panniers on ST1

I have an ST1 and I like doing longer trips with it on rail to trail routes--the Katy Trail in MO, Little Miami Trail in OH, Greenbrier Trail in WV, Elroy Sparta Trail in WI, and the Great Allegheny Passage. I love these trails--you can zoom along up to 20 mph, see some beautiful and historic...

    ST1 loosing power & speed

I would call the dealer and talk to their mechanic first, then take the bike in when they're ready to get into it. I'd share what you've heard about possible causes but wouldn't focus too much on any one thing--that way they'll be more likely to contact Stromer and get to the real issue quicker...

    ST1 loosing power & speed

Absolutely covered by warranty. Any good Stromer dealer/mechanic should be able to work through it. It may take a few attempts, trying this and that, process of elimination. I would really nudge the repair person to do two things: 1) first, carefully go over the bike and consider the possible...

    Advice on protection from flats

I've I've ridden 1500 miles on all kinds of city pavements and bike trails, and at 220 lbs. my bike and I tip the scale at about 285 lbs., so I put a load on my tires. No flats using the stock tires. I am really impressed with the Schwalbe Big Bens. Question: I know the day is coming and I...

    ST1 loosing power & speed

Sorry I haven't kept up re: the intermittent and unpredictable "pulsing issue" on my ST-1. But I do have some positive updates to share. As you can see above and from 3-4 previous postings, I had the issue since I got my bike in June. My dealer, who worked through Stromer's tech people to...

    ST1 loosing power & speed

Quick update on my ST1. After some consultation with Stromer's tech rep, they decided to replace the gears on the rear hub. They explained why, though I honestly don't recall what the reasoning was. Looked the bike over thoroughly and suggested I take the bike and see if there was an...

    ST1 loosing power & speed

Thanks. I have three batteries--two purple, one gold. Have had the problem with each of the three batteries so don't think that's the issue.

    Power Pulsing, Continued

Berlin, we did have a great vacation, thanks. My bike has been with my dealer for 2 weeks. Didn't seem to make too much progress while I was gone but we've had a couple of calls about it this week. He has now spoken with the Service Manager at Stromer--not sure if it was Joe Montecalvo--and so...

Does anyone know what size seatpost collar the Stromer requires?

I got a black Salsa brand collar that I placed on the seat post and the top of the bike frame. I bolted my Iberra rack to it and it works great. I mounted a Planet Bike red flashing tailight using their mount to the back of the Iberra. And on long rides I snap on my Iberra pannier bags (taking...

Got my 1st "cheater" shout today

When they yell cheater, I instantly (and good naturally) reply, "Loser!"

    ST1 loosing power & speed

I have experienced what sounds like the same problem. Tried turning the bike on/off. Removed battery. Tried my other two batteries. No difference. It has happened to me in all four power settings, and happens on longer rides on level or mostly level ground where I am happily cruising along at...

New, higher capacity batteries for ST-1?

I keep hearing that the ST-2 is getting a major new battery next year--I know the ST-2 uses a different battery than the ST-1 but does anyone know if the ST-1 will be getting something similar? I like to do 100-mile rides, but I live in a fairly hilly area and weigh 220 lbs., so the bike and I...

12V to 120V charger to use with Stromer

I would like to know if anyone has tried using a 12V to 120V charger in their vehicle--plugging it into the cigar lighter--and plugging the Stromer battery charger into the car charger to be able to charge Stromer batteries while driving on a trip? I am wondering if the chargers (roughly $20 to...

    Power Pulsing, Continued

Great advice, and special thanks for providing the service manager contact info at Stromer. I hope to drop my bike off at the end of this month and leave it with my dealer so he can resolve this while I am on vacation. More and more I suspect the rear brake sensor base on the symptoms.

    Power Pulsing, Continued

Thanks, I suspect there's a pretty good chance that this is what my problem is, or likely could be. I am going to take it to my dealer on 9/26 when I go on vacation and try and get him work through it and also get in touch with Stromer for advice. May encourage him too to have a rear brake...

    Power Pulsing, Continued

I took my ST1 in for a checkup at 500 miles. The only real complaint was the pulsing issue. When I got it back it seemed a bit better, though the mechanic didn't really seem to have an explanation about what he'd done. Since that time I have encountered the problem and lately it has been...

Taking ST1 on 7 day trip--Hitch-Mount Rack and Rain?

I may try this. Maybe test it out on a rainy day here first--probably smart to remove and cover the battery area and definitely the LCD unit on the handlebar and that's about it. Or I may just leave it at home.....

Taking ST1 on 7 day trip--Hitch-Mount Rack and Rain?

Thanks, may try your method. I think you're right though--the height and bulk of an SUV would really block a lot of wind. I have noticed with my ST1 uncovered but hanging on the Thule rack that my mileage drops a lot--maybe from 48 to 44 mpg, so it does create a fair amount of drag.
