The Citi bike experience - New York edition

I always considered advertising the dark side. It was my 2nd major. One of the last classes of my senior year, a professor and mentor said to a bunch of us - raise your hand if you have a problem lying to people. Mine was the only one that went up. Aside from product photography, I never...

Making an adapter for MIK to fit a JandD top case

Back with a short-term followup after a week of commuting an hour each way. First thought is - why did I not do this sooner? I hit several birds with one stone here. First and most obvious is the ability to quickly take this with me. Maybe not so obvious is the ease and speed of...

The Citi bike experience - New York edition

I had to travel to the city for work, and decided to stay a few extra days for giggles. Because why not? If I have to spend a day traveling there and a day back, I might as well spend a few days poking around. When I added the extra days, I knew exactly what I wanted to do...ride bikes around...

Making an adapter for MIK to fit a JandD top case

Thank you. I also wanted to take a moment and comment on the bag itself. I have maybe 1500 miles on this thing and like it more every time I use it. It's very well made - reminds me a lot of Wolfman motorcycle tank bags but with more whizbangs. You start to notice little details over time...

Making an adapter for MIK to fit a JandD top case

After searching high and low, it turns out that nobody makes what I wanted or it's perpetually out of stock. I wanted a good size top case with some expansion that could carry enough for a day trip. And I wanted something with MIK compatibility for a quick connect/disconnect. The J and D Rear...

I think I understand New York's ebike fire problem a little better now.

Yeah, probably. But that's probably not all of them either. That's a pretty big pile. It's also hard to say if the ones visible in the photo are in good condition. I'm not saying Arrow batteries caused this, but they were in the neighborhood at the time.

I dunno, but there are 3 Arrow style batteries at the bottom of that photo

Let's shape the future of e-mobility innovations together

Flying bikes. I would like to have a flying bike. Maybe a jet. That would sound pretty cool.

I think I understand New York's ebike fire problem a little better now.

It had been a while since i'd been to the city. The last time I was there, I don't recall seeing any e-bikes. Probably because they didn't exist. But on a trip there a few days ago, I had a short list of things that I wanted to do - and one of those was to check out the e-bike scene...which I...

Yeah for sure. I could still get just about everywhere I wanted to go up until yesterday, but this one has been on another level. Considering we're in the 80s now, and all this extra humidity, I'm going to sit the next couple weeks out. Good timing 'cause I'll be out of town almost that long...

It really is. That's usually a trickle. A healthy stream maybe, but today it was a river. These rains have been with us for a good 2 months. Bike paths are trashed. Puddles can be deceptively dangerous as they're full of silt and as slick as ice. I've been in Colorado for 12 years and...

My commute to work takes me through Cherry Creek State Park - if I can get there. We've seen some record rains here on the Front Range this year. I don't know if this is snowmelt or runoff from the rains last night - the same storm that produced a somewhat rare tornado for this part of the...

Wow-Prices are down on E-Bikes on Specialized site!

That could be the case. However I find it hard to see where manufacturers are going to make giant leaps. I don't see aluminum or carbon bikes getting much lighter. Range is only going to improve with a leap in battery chemistry. Motors aren't going to get much more efficient than they...

Wow-Prices are down on E-Bikes on Specialized site!

I kinda want another ebike and have had nothing but crap experiences from both Trek dealers and the mothership. Sounds like I'm not the only one. Maybe it's time to try what Specialized is offering. A bit more on topic though I've been hearing a lot of chatter about inventory gluts and...
