Hands going numb during a trail ride

I find that I needed to rotate my Ergon GP3's upward until my wrist and forearm were more or less inline. This eliminated the numbness I would experience. This thread has 90 posts re these grips...

    The Green Room

@reed scott - Nuclear power is verboten in CA, through the gov did issue a special order to delay the mandatory shut down of the state's last nuclear plant, Diablo Canyon, to help minimize rolling black outs. The utility has applied for a rate increase to cover the costs of shutting this...

    It's fire season again

I'm surprised as well. California has been hit with several large fires, the largest - the Dixie fire - has been burning since early July and is nearing 1 million acres. The Caldor fire threatened South Lake Tahoe and burned over the ridge of the more than a mile high Sierras, the first...

    The Green Room

In the interests of 'saving' power, i.e. reducing consumption at peak times, California relys on 'rolling black outs' where select areas are just disconnected from the grid. Our business has experienced a number of these shut offs this year. Luckily we bit the bullet a few years ago and...

    Brake Pads?

I also use acetone to clean my rotors, and then wipe them with alcohol; a tip I picked up from my MTBing sons. The acetone removes hydrocarbons; the alcohol removes organics. On worn pads I have used a fine sandpaper to remove the glaze they can get. @PedalUma is this where you'd use a file?

    Off-road capable commuter tyres?

Stefan, are these both Smart Sams? If so this combo adds a level of difficulty for loose surfaces as both tires want to grip, with more grip in the rear. More grip in the front is better for, loose surfaces. With the front being a Smart Sam and the rear being smoother tread, I would think your...

    Off-road capable commuter tyres?

I also ride with a Smart Sam on my Vado's front wheel for better control on our local gravel and dirt roads. I use a smoother tread on the rear for lower rolling resistance.

    Brake Pads?

This thread is my experience with new pads at ~500 miles; https://electricbikereview.com/forums/threads/disc-brakes-and-pads.33304/ Cleaning the rotors and 'bedding in' the new pads is always a good idea to help eliminate squeals. BTW - From your pics it appears that the pads have a ridge worn...

    It's fire season again

My step-brother, his wife, and their dog just evacuated their home at the north end of Lake Tahoe. No point on waiting for the knock on the door he says! They've headed to his daughter's place north of San Fran. Couldn't agree more. I wish them safe travels.

Your fav trails in Montana, Idaho, Wyoming?

OK, we didn't ride eBikes, but my wife and I really enjoyed the 'hub' bike tour out of Wallace, Idaho 2 years ago. It was hosted by roadscholar.org. I think this is the same trip; https://www.roadscholar.org/find-an-adventure/20762/biking-the-idaho-panhandle-on-rails-to-trails Another...

    Flat Tire Prevention Advice

Just as a tid-bit; I do carry a full flat kit at all times; Spare tube Tube patch kit Tire levers Mini-tool Manual pump CO2 inflator Multiple CO2 cartridges Just 'cause stuff happens... BTW - my MTBing sons do the same though they eliminate the manual pump and add a tubeless plug kit, mostly...

    Flat Tire Prevention Advice

After several flats on my then new Vado ebike, I installed Mr Tuffy tire liners as I've used on my mech bikes for years. No flats since, now at 30 months. I ride with my tires at ~50psi, YRMV. I do mostly urban paved path/road riding so your experiences will vary with your riding conditions...

Specialized Turbo Creo SL - a year in and today charger failed

My wife's Vado did the same thing this AM. I assume it was contamination on the connectors since everything was fine after I blew off them off. The Vado charger uses a magnetic connector for the charger. Works well, except I keep the chargers in the shop with the bikes in the Summer. The...

Specialized Turbo Vado/Como/Tero/Tero X User Club

My Vado developed an irritating 'chirp' as I rode, even when I wasn't pedaling. It took a while but I realized it was sync'd to wheel rotation, 1 'chirp' per wheel turn, but only with a rider. I cleaned the chain, the chain ring, etc. As it got louder over time I pulled the wheels checking...

    It's fire season again

The town of South Lake Tahoe went under a mandatory evac order at 11AM today, shortly after my last post. Our local digital services have been disrupted by the fires since ~10AM so we're just now learning about the new orders ourselves. Evacuation traffic leaving South Lake Tahoe this...

    It's fire season again

Several weeks ago a fire was started south of the popular Lake Tahoe area. It appears that the fire was intentionally set. This is the Caldor fire that, along with the much larger Dixie Fire to the north, has been keeping the Lake Tahoe basin filled with smoke at the 'very unhealthy' level for...

    It's fire season again

The winds have shifted. The River Fire is no longer advancing towards us, though it is now over 2,400Ac and only 30% contained. The River Fire is the smoke plume in the lower right edge of this NOAA photo. The much larger Dixie Fire is just above this. The shifting winds turned the Dixie...
