So what's the guess on the new Lectric ONE product coming March 12?

Supposed to be a better cadence sensor... 96 magnets vs 12 that are in most cadence sensors. I have a torque sensor Aventon... I actually prefer the cadence sensor for casual riding... and hills.

High hopes but let down when delivered.

Put me down for White Castle meh. Went to Indiana over 25 years ago and visited one in a sketchy area. Me and my buddy were trying to figure out what the hype was about after eating the first one... and it didn't get better after the 2nd. Went to TX a few months ago, and Whataburger in TX was...

As soon as my Ioniq 5 lease is done... I'm getting the EV9 (if not sooner)... it fits my oversized body, has quick DC charging... and is the lower trims are cheap enough for me.

So my wife has that same range anxiety thing... but I got tired of driving ICE for my main vehicle when it was used mostly for local (she was driving my Tesla). So got her a PHEV because of this fear... of which we've still never road tripped after 6 months because all the vacations she wants to...

In a pinch... You can always just plug an EV intp a 120v outlet. Those are everywhere. :)

    Electric Car thread

I used to think PHEVs were the answer to transition until I owned one. Instead of the best of both worlds, it was the worst. ICE maintenence, issues with electric to ICE systems and low EV range/slow charging and not much cheaper than EVs make it a loser in my eyes. Hybrid is ok but it still...

The Citi bike experience - New York edition

We rented Citibikes on a recent NY excursion. Haven't been in probaby over 10-15 years. I'm not sure if that dedicated path next to the Hudson was there before but it was great to ride it.

Actually low Ioniq 5 leases are how I got into one... and I prefer leasing because I'm fickle and know I'll want something else within 2 years. I'm already thinking about my next EV. :)

    Electric Car thread

Some legacy automakers like Ford and GM are cutting back on EV production/projects while others like Hyundai/Kia and Volvo are increasing efforts. I do think we need to see more budget EVs to drive adoption but at the same time, the market for lower priced EVs may not have the available...

I think propane is more efficient, a bit cleaner and more available as a transportable fuel.

So went to REI for service and...

My local REI will service any ebike for normal mechanical issues that are not motor related. I joined their membership because rates were cheap and they would fix flats for just material costs. That changed recently. They now charge for flat fixes on rear hub motor tires. The last one I did...

    Winter Sucks

Lucky to be in SoCal. Afternoon rides need to start earlier but we can do some night riding with lights. Morning rides can start later as it won't get so hot. And "It never rains in Southern California..." (sing it with me) so we can almost ride 365 days a year.

Are mid drives just naturally less zippy than hub motors?

I have a rear hub motor with a torque sensor and on flats it's okay but uphill less zippy. It's also a smaller motor so that may be another consideration.
