First ride with the Archon X1 upgrade!

Their 2300W controller uses UART protocol and will not communicate with this battery. If you can enable the battery output, then it will work fine. A CAN version of the controller is supposedly being developed.

Hydra in (semi)gloss black (Cerakote H109)

No, I only ordered the single free color. The Trevor van Riemsdyk Edition decals were free. Perhaps Watt Wagons tested their fitment on my frame and left them on?

Hydra in (semi)gloss black (Cerakote H109)

One year in and my Hydra with the Archon X1 controller is still going strong. I opened the motor and replaced the yellow Bafang grease with Lubriplate Synxtreme HD2 calcium sulfonate synthetic grease. It's supposed to outperform lithium. I'll check on it in another year. The motor seems quieter...

    Ultra motor continues to run

This sounds like an intermittent short circuit between the throttle wire and a 5V wire. Especially since the problem doesn't happen in PAS 0. The short could be in the harness or the motor. Look for any wires pinched during installation. The silicone insulation on the motor wires can split when...

    Magura front brake shudder

Good call. That's definitely the better way to do it without having to realign the caliper.

PAS setting on the DPC18 display

Oh, you just have to hold the PAS+ button to switch between Eco and Sport. The default mode setting is which one you start with on power up.

    Ammo can storage

Check out what the BAT-SAFE XL design incorporates. - Venting through a flame arresting, soot filtering medium. It looks like fiberglass but could be something with a higher temperature rating - High temperature silicone sealing gasket - Double wall construction with high temperature...

PAS setting on the DPC18 display

The Eco/Sport version can't adjust the number of PAS levels. Eco is PAS 1-5 and Sport is PAS 6-10

Worth the wait, Hydra is here.

I'll use Eco 3 for the steepest climbs but it is a challenge keeping enough weight on the front wheel for steering. I'm usually on Eco 2 for technical trails. I use sensitivity torque level 0 and motor torque level 0 for all assist levels. This gives smooth, nearly instantaneous assist when...

    Magura front brake shudder

I'll try these pads next to address shuddering under heavy braking and squealing under light braking. Might even be able to change them without removing the caliper. Even the Magura Sport pads squeal under light braking as they are still semi-metallic. And yes, they are degreased and bedded in.

    Magura front brake shudder

Yes, mine do it too. I've read it doesn't happen with the single piece pads. The downside with those is you have to remove the caliper to change them. On a related note, I've eliminated squealing under light pressure with organic pads from Jagwire. They definitely have a softer feel but can...

Worth the wait, Hydra is here.

I stripped out one WW crank arm not realizing there was a washer stuck in there. I got the arm off using an ARES 15036 puller. It has thin hooks to fit behind the crank arm. I think I had it in the two-jaw configuration.

Source of 48t steel chain ring

To maintain the same top speed and avoid using the 11T and 13T sprockets, you'll need a 60T chainring. (44/11=60/15) 130 BCD is the standard spider size on the Bafang Ultra. I don't know of any high quality chainrings in this size but there are plenty of dubious quality on Amazon and...

    Hydra as a commuter?

Aluminum from a German online seller. The price was less than direct from SQlab.

    DCP-18

The wheel diameter settings are based on a 2.1" wide tire, so you'll have to cross reference circumference if you're running a different width.

    Hydra as a commuter?

The handle bar clamp should be 35 mm. I didn't have any luck finding 35 mm swept bars. Swept bars need a longer stem to maintain steering stability, so there's no reason to stick with 35 mm. My wrists are happy with the SQlab 3OX 16° high rise. I went with a 70 mm, 35° stem.

Worth the wait, Hydra is here.

Thank you! You solved my embarrassing creak! I had checked all other linkages, the motor mounts, the headset and the battery mounts. I was sure a carbon fiber fastener was creaking but it was just resonating. Interestingly, we both took delivery of our Hydras around the same time. My creak just...

    Battery Charging Port Differences

Maybe damaged but definitely the wrong shape. That battery charge port is a Cusmade 1103B when it should be an 1103A

    Battery Charging Port Differences

My frame and battery ports are the same. My charger plug looks the same as yours. It seems like the wrong port was put on your battery.
