Converting thumb throttle to twist throttle

I have a small quad bike with a thumb throttle and a motorcycle with a twist throttle. I switch from one to the other without thinking about it. I have certainly never felt the need to change the thumb throttle to a twist throttle but there are times, on long straight roads for example, when I...

    Why no drop handlebars?

I don't understand your term, 'distinguishing their product'. While looking at e-bikes I saw them available in all shapes, sizes and configurations. I ended up getting a touring e-bike, a configuration that I haven't owned for almost 50 years because, for me, this allowed me to to gain the most...

    First impressions

Possibly on the flat but absolutely not true whe I and many other people ride. The main factor for most people is gradient. Wind resistance usually only comes into effect when travelling downhill and then gravity provides free assistance.

    First impressions

I know about the automatic gearbox culture as I also have a Model A Ford and am a member of a forum based in the US. Every now and again there are threads about people having to learn or relearn how to use a manual gearbox.

    Getting rads of attention

Why do people accept chain and transmission problems with e-bikes? Over the years I have given my mountain bikes a hard time but they have always been up to the job. As I have said elsewhere it makes me believe that too many e-bike manufacturers use components that are just not fit for purpose.

    First impressions

The thing is Vincent that was one of my first impressions so it cannot be disputed. Personally I'm not sure if riding in hilly areas uses more power, having ridden normal bikes in hilly areas and Holland I find the flat to be far more tiring, especially when there is any wind. I live in a hilly...

    First impressions

Hi. I'm new to this e-bike world but have made some obversations from reading the online threads. My first observation is that there is a lot of confusion over performance and range. I think that that is probably less complicated for me in Europe as I like most other people here ride 25 km/h...

    2017 Scott e-sub Tour

I have just bought my first e-bike to rekindle my love of cycling. So far I'm really impressed; the power delivery, ease of use, range and the efficiency of pedalling the bike on the flat and above 25km/h have all been better than I had expected. I've been out for several fairly local trips...

Why Electric Bikes Shouldn't Be Allowed on Mountain Biking Trails?

In the EU a 25 km/h e-bike is classified as a bicycle and can use any cycle paths and trails open to other cyclists. The more powerful e-bikes are treated like mopeds and small motorcycles and are restricted from using many paths. I cannot see my e-bike causing any more damage or noise when...

A little bling for my Stromer STS 2

I really can't see that especially taking into account that the front wheel is elevated.

    Hello from Paris

Hi from another part of France a fair way to the south west of you. I enjoy my e-bike on the quiet lanes of the Poitou Charente, a very different experience to the busy Parisien streets. I still have my motorcycle but use it much less for local journeys than I did before.

Q: Has owning an e-bike changed your car driving habits?

I'm not sure that now having a e-bike will make a huge difference to my using a car but I think it will certainly cut down on the local trips on my motorcycle.
