Touring cross country with an ebike - Video

Not to mention the extremely wide mirrors on big RVs (recreational vehicles) I was hit on the shoulder by one years ago and the driver just kept going... The best we can do is to choose roads with wider shoulders, but that isn't always possible. Welcome to cycling in the USA, I wish we provided...

Specialized Turbo Creo 28mph Electric Road Bike

The problem is real life mountain biking includes many types of road and terrain. There are plenty of times and at least a few thousand miles I have ridden regular mountain bikes at speeds between 20 and 25mph that weren't even downhill.

Specialized Turbo Creo 28mph Electric Road Bike

When riding a Levo around the cutoff point the behavior of the motor feels like the rug is being pulled out from beneath you. It reminds me of watching a fish toying with a bobber, but I'm riding a $5k bike, kind of unbelievable that Specialized make other bikes that top out at 28mph but see fit...

    Camping Gear!

Lots of great info, thanks! Do you have any thoughts on protecting your bike from thieves and the elements while sleeping in your tent? Maybe just a fabric cover in case of rain and a lock?

Specialized Turbo Creo 28mph Electric Road Bike

Thanks, the Mahle website showed a road bike with a belt drive and an internally geared hub instead of a rear derailleur, I wonder why Specialized did not choose to go that route. Mahle also mention the possibility of a mountain bike with their motor. The battery in the Creo has 30 18650 cells...

Specialized Turbo Creo 28mph Electric Road Bike

It is a beautiful bike, one that finally shrinks the motor size to something closer to what the early DIY scene created using RC motors some years back. I'm looking forward to seeing this in a mountain bike frame. I would guess it will provide 500 watts when climbing hills. While it is...

Specialized Turbo Creo 28mph Electric Road Bike

I wonder when Specialized will offer a super lightweight e-mountain bike along the same lines... FYI: the Founder's edition mentioned above comes with two 160 Wh range extending batteries, as well as a framable price tag with the number $16,500 printed on it.

Charging iPhone while riding via USB port on Kiox

Some bikes have 12V available for after market lights. If your bike has 12V out from the battery you can connect a 12V cigarrette lighter USB port adapter (~$10) from Amazon, Walmart, Target. I charge my iPhone this way while riding.

Replace axle in Go SwissDrive rear hub drive motor?

caveat: I've never seen or worked on a SwissDrive motor Perhaps the two halves are "press-fit" together, this is the case with a BionX motor. There are a few different approaches to opening BionX motors online, I used a puller like this one from Harbor Freight...

How local bikeshops treat your online purchase?

If I were in the OP's situation, the next move I would make would be to call the mfgr, BH, and see what they say about the situation. I'm not saying that would resolve this problem, but I would at least want to get their response regarding dealers who won't perform warranty work on bikes...

Replace axle in Go SwissDrive rear hub drive motor?

Thanks for posting your story, you have excellent insights. I've converted two Stumpjumpers and both are great ebikes with BionX drives. https://electricbikereview.com/forums/threads/light-touring-build-using-bionx-drive-without-a-bionx-battery.28234/#post-200319 I like having a motor with...

Replace axle in Go SwissDrive rear hub drive motor?

Shame to go through so much hassle - do have any comments about the performance of your SwissDrive when it was working? There aren't very many reviews. I've opened a BionX motor, but have not put it back together or laced it into a wheel. The BionX required some work to pull the two clamshell...

Replace axle in Go SwissDrive rear hub drive motor?

The yoda meme wins you the best attitude of the day award. I've considered buying a SwissDrive system, as I understand it has the torque sensor and controller built into the motor like BionX. Does anyone know if it also uses canbus? Surprising to break an axle, did it happen on a ride or while...

Light Touring Build using Bionx Drive without a Bionx Battery

Hi Ravi, I can only vouch for this technique's ability to eliminate the battery on I2C BionX equipment and the D-series uses the canbus protocol. The cable mod works by breaking out the red pos and black neg from the comm cable and supplying 5V to the console and pack voltage to the motor. My...

    Ebike collector story in China

Well written post. My first ebike encounter was on a sidewalk in a medium size city in China. The rider passed me at a slow speed, but was accelerating silently without pedaling. I was hooked at first sight. For you, it is difficult to make a career from a passion, as you say most people...

    High speed deer collision.

Hope you recover quickly. I have had a buck jump immediately in front of me at speed from out of a dense woods. Their ability to jump is awe inspiring. I ride around a large number of deer, encountered more than 50 on a single sunset ride last month. On an afternoon ride the next day I saw 1...

Light Touring Build using Bionx Drive without a Bionx Battery

A few more thoughts to share. The Schwalbe Marathon Supreme tires and tubes have low rolling resistance and good grip, but if I buy a new tire it will be a little wider with a bit of tread. The grip on a dry road gives enough confidence to lean into turns, however the tires are so low profile...
