    Class 1 vs 3

I'm guessing they won't tell you this not because they are ignorant, but because it doesn't matter. The chainring to sprocket torque loss on a pedal only bike is identical, it has nothing to do with the motor. You might recall that work = force x distance. Likewise work / energy is conserved...

    Suspension Seat Posts

still kicking myself for all the years I was taking unnecessary pounding from the road, there should be a kinekt loaner / demo program for forum members so people can see what they're missing

    Suspension Seat Posts

I'm in the club that learned not to lift with the saddle as well... You have found a dropper to be very worthwhile, so the PNW might be a good fit, the only caveat I can see is the direction of travel is along the line of the seatpost. Years ago I had a suspension seatpost with that geometry...

    Quality Charger

just a comment on connectors since they are coming up in this thread... in the case where a battery is being plugged into a controller the XT90-S is a good choice or, if you see a spark when making a connection, that is a sure sign an XT90-S should be used a built in 5-6 ohm resistor slows...

anybody ever get a flat with their shwalbe's and what was it from?

Very pleased with my Schwalbe Marathon Supremes. The compound is grippy, the rolling resistance is low and I've only had one unlucky flat. The flat was caused by a 3/16" long stiff and narrow piece of wire which entered at just the right angle to reach the tube. It was on a 110 mile ride in...

    Quality Charger

ok, the Satiator is a fine charger, which I own, though I would not say that everyone needs one that said, here are two further points regarding the Satiator- it is highly water resistant and shock proof, making it a good travel companion on rides and a must on tours buying one helps to...

Stromer lack of support and a dead st1

I'm glad you've been around ebikes for a little while, stick around- you may encounter some of the quality hub motors out there. If you're the curious type, you could get a head start by reading the Grin Tech website and watching some of Justin's videos.

Fazua motor updates from Eurobike | Entering the US in 2020

Thanks for sharing what you found at Eurobike, Chris. I'm a day touring rider who likes to extend my range with a lightweight and relatively low power system. The Fazua system could work well for me. I believe I read a rider review of Fazua which said it had a disturbing lag between starting...

Timpo- It should be mentioned that the Kinekt aluminum version is $249. Still not cheap, but I've ridden it for one year and wouldn't be without it, having tried a couple others over the years.

I used to climb around the rafters of that building, got to be scary as you climbed higher.

    Helmets...Wear Them!!!

Like so many heated discussions of late, the divisive helmet issue is raised mostly in the USA. It never came up in the years I was biking in Europe. Biking, in and of itself, is not a high risk activity. For the most part, poor infrastructure makes cycling hazardous. The helmet discussion...

A Deeper Look at Gates Carbon Belt Drives at Eurobike

Thanks, Chris. Casual guys with quality information. I enjoyed the early days when we would occasionally chat on the phone about ebikes and where it was all heading. I learned alot and will add a request to also see the rear triangle opened to replace the belt in a future video. I think Zach...

Hills or Wind. Which is worse.

Ride into the wind as far as you can, to the point that body and mind tell you to stop. Then turn around and fly back home. Gave me the ebike grin years before I'd ever seen an ebike.

ebikes on rail trails from both sides...

Rail Trails are special places, increasingly used by families with small children and pedestrians in my area. Small groups of spandex riders at 25 mph present a hazard the same way ebikes can. Some rail trails are sanctuaries where you can listen to the wind in the leaves and the rushing water...

    Hello from Oswestry!

Welcome. I'm a fan of Oswestry (as a tourist). Nice place to explore with an ebike. Hope you enjoy cruising around the fields and sheep pastures this fall.

Will the popularity of tuning kill eBikes?

Once again, this forum performs as admirably as a self-righting boat. I doubt it will surprise anyone if I throw out the possibility that "someone" with such animus isn't likely to be completely new to our forum.

Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

Vancouver has alot of nice rides and you locals take advantage of it, thanks for sharing the scenery. The Second Narrows / Lions Gate loop with random trail selection in Stanley Park each time through was fun- I like the view from high bridges. While on a regular bike last August I met a guy...

Mahle at Eurobike 2019 - any video of their booth?

Having created the motor for the new Specialized Creo, Mahle is, for me, the current state of the art in human scale bike enhancement. According to the list of exhibitors, Mahle had a presence at the show. If anyone has seen coverage of their booth at Eurobike with an interview, video of the...

Specialized Turbo Creo 28mph Electric Road Bike

Up to 28 mph means you can readily cruise at 26 mph in reality. Riding at 26 mph only eats 240 battery watts (using my height and weight and using the drops) according to Kreuzotter.de - 390 watts total minus 150 watts from the rider. Factor in some inefficiencies and I could still cruise for...
