Any serious review about the recent Orbea Kemen ?

Yeah, that's why I was thinking it's odd that they didn't go with the RS model, given the range difference. I'd really like to know how much power saving one gets on a regular EP8 that's been dialed back on the torque, compared to the EP8-RS. Maybe the RS has other firmware tweaks that are...

Any serious review about the recent Orbea Kemen ?

Reportedly around 43lbs, so not as light as a SL, but 5-10lbs lighter than most other bikes with a 540wh battery. I'm intrigued by the Urrun in particular because my cocktail napkin math suggests that with more trekking type tires, and that battery/motor combo, over 200km per charge is doable...

Any serious review about the recent Orbea Kemen ?

There's not a lot of news about the Kemen or Urrun (I keep checking for reviews), but the Orbea specs say the Kemen is using the standard EP8, not their tuned down RS, and in the product photos, there's no additional RS badging on the motor. I'm guessing that since they're pushing the Kemen as...

Signs just put up on my home town bike path.

At least the roadies are keeping them occupied in High Park these days!

Keeping it Legal for the Common Good, Staying Within the Legal Classes

Indeed! I know people in this form defend wearing earbuds or even over-the-ear headphones, and that's fine, but from my experience, joggers (and people who rent the city bikes here in Toronto) with said headphones do NOT have pass-through audio enabled. :)

Keeping it Legal for the Common Good, Staying Within the Legal Classes

Here in Toronto (and lots of other areas in Canada), most mixed use paths have a speed limit of 20kph. (not that they're enforced much). The worst violators are not e-bikes, but roadies, e-scooters, and monowheels, though I'd take all of them over the clueless joggers & instagramming...

Just an observation, but: Teenagers being scofflaws AND thinking they're invulnerable? Inconceivable!

    Rad law suit

I thought I edited my earlier post to correct myself, but guess I forgot to hit update. Stupid work... :) The dropout isn't straight up and down though, as the rear of the bike is suspended in that screenshot... it's sloped, but not nearly as much as @m-robertson's example (maybe +/- 20...

    Suggestions for off-road headlight?

Thanks for the reminder! Seriously, I forgot I picked up a small bottle of Loctite 243 a couple of months ago. It got stuffed in the back of the repair shelf after a stupid user error - got brake fluid on my front rotor after a bleed - what a horrendous sound!

    Suggestions for off-road headlight?

:D That happens on my SO's bike sometimes. Her headlight will get loose and become a photon cannon. I really should find something to lock it down better, but the mount should probably be replaced.

    Suggestions for off-road headlight?

Hmmm... if you're regularly blinding people on your ride, it's probably not the best choice for a headlight. :) I've been blinded by fellow cyclists who don't understand the impact their headlights can have, including a close call on a pretty busy urban mixed path (Toronto waterfront) due to a...

    Rad law suit

I think the pic I posted from the EBR review shows more clearly, even with the QR, that it's a closed, offset dropout. I mean, you can clearly see the green fork underneath the QR. If it were a vertical dropout, the slot would be an inverted U shape, not circular, and we see the bare steel of...

    Rad law suit

100% it's a skewer with obvious offset from the photo... Looked up the EBR review (where the pic is from) - "135mm Hub Spacing, 9mm Axle with Release Skewer" (and the same as the RR 2).

I'm not sure this is really an issue with the Rad Runner. All their models appear to be similar to the original...

    Rad law suit

It's a tragic situation, but the details in the article point toward a death by misadventure. Two 11 year olds double ride on a bike that isn't theirs, and don't know what they're doing when riding down a hill. Nothing in there provides solid evidence that the bike or the helmet malfunctioned.

    Suggestions for off-road headlight?

OLight makes a universal mount with a pivot so the light can be either parallel or perpendicular to the tubing. It's only about 10 bucks. https://www.olightstore.ca/olight-fb-1-bike-mount.html It's not the one I have (mine is some no-name brand), but basically the same idea. As for the...

Getting What You Need From a Cycling GPS

Already heard back from the developer, and it's possible to include the data, and he has the code to do so from another dev. Just hasn't had the time to implement it yet.

    JBL Handlebar Speakers

No experience with the Wind, but we'll often use a friend's JBL Clip when camping. It shares the same 5W output (probably the same audio guts in a different package), and JBL has always sounded pretty balanced to me. 5W should be MORE than enough for a handlebar mounted speaker pointing at you...

Getting What You Need From a Cycling GPS

The watch is the Venu 2, and the app (or data fields) is Steps EMTB. https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/461743f9-b350-486f-bd87-613c7b0bab90 This is more of an alternative to a handlebar mounted display, and allows you to choose what data fields you want displayed. (I was wrong in saying it...

    Suggestions for off-road headlight?

I'd consider a rechargeable tactical light like one from Fenix or Olight, and a handlebar or helmet mount, depending on your preference. I picked up a Fenix PD36R on sale for just under $100 CDN (currently $100 US), and have used it on my bike using some cheap universal silicone handlebar clamp...
