Why aren't many ebike warranties tranferable?

From the standpoint of business owner the added expense of a transferable warranty is only a good idea if it makes him more money. Don't call it a "capitalism", - call it "common sense" or "greed" if this sounds better ;). The bottom line is - they don't do it because they don't want to.

Can Bosch Ebike battery be used as a power source during power failure?

Pretty much so. TV, microwave and coffee-maker are not a necessity. The only case that I would make for a generator is when it's really hot and humid and you'll suffer without A/C, think Panama or (at least) Florida in summer. It's nice to have all the usual comforts and not to have to throw...

    Amazon price gouging

Yes, and it's probably seller-specific. I sometimes see an item selling for, say, $500 while there are other sellers still selling it for the usual $50, and am very tempted to email the guy: "you are selling it for $500, would you like to buy one for $300"? :)... Of course nobody would buy it...

Can Bosch Ebike battery be used as a power source during power failure?

A lot of good will a small 12V fridge do, when you have a 20 cu.ft monster full of groceries and a freezer chest. Small 2.2 cu.ft 12V compressor fridge - like those in trucks and boats - will draw 250-300 WH per day or 20-25 AH@12V. Yes, a single 100W solar and 100 AH 12V battery will run...

Why aren't many ebike warranties tranferable?

Why should they be transferable? It's a market philosophy, enjoy the capitalism. When/if somebody will start doing it and if (IF) he is a serious competition, the others might follow.

Can Bosch Ebike battery be used as a power source during power failure?

In theory, 500WH fully charged will let you run/recharge the laptop, phone, a couple of small LED lights - for 2 days max. Not a fridge or A/C. As said, voltage is the problem since inverters are typically 12-24-48V, and Bosch is neither. Generators suck. They are fine as long as they work...

Is there a way to measure...

He wants to know the comfortable level of effort in pounds, not the amount of watts that his muscles generate. IMHO, - doesn't matter how many pounds, your muscles and joints are main indicators here. When your body is telling you that it's too much then it is - time to slow down or up the...

    Daymak Vienna

Speed depends on motor and controller, not on whether the battery is lithium or SLA. Range depends on the battery WH rating - and on the speed too. The slower you go the farther you'll get. They claim 40 miles range on Vienna but I doubt it will get that far at 20 mph speed in real life...

    Daymak Vienna

This has been my impression as well. Being a driver myself I know how annoying is to drag behind a small gas powered moped struggling in 30 mph zone, and Vienna can only do 20 mph. Its 1700 WH battery is SLA, this means ~900 Ah usable charge, should be enough for 25-30 miles total trip (15...

    Daymak Vienna

This is a low-speed e-motorcycle pretending to be an ebike, some cops are taking issue with this. It is also very heavy 180 lbs. Pedaling these devices is next to impossible.

Detroit Bike introduces its first e-bike, the $900 E-Sparrow

Single speed with 250W motor gravitates towards flatt-er terrain and light-er riders. Also, commuters often want a fast acceleration on intersections. Could've been a cheap leisure bike for flatter areas like Florida, though it is not clear how wide the tires are - I would want at least 2.3" for...

Detroit Bike introduces its first e-bike, the $900 E-Sparrow

I was about to say this too. Many buyers don't do any research, they didn't even before the epidemic - no time, or can't understand the details. Many are unaware of RAD bikes, they just saw this Detroit and clicked "order". I don't think that the analogy with a manual transmission car is a...

    What is a cheap bike?

A bit off on most points, must be too much time on your hands indeed. Cheap is $600. You're buying $1500 entry level bike. Ride it for a season, then buy Nakto or something else off Ebay in $500-800 class or $4K bike and you'll see the difference. Long waits are due to Covid-19, not to the...

I think we are going to be mainstream!!!

This year the explosion was fueled by Covid-19 as many people are avoiding public transit and are switching to bikes (all kinds, electric and regular). Ebikes have less limitations than regular bikes but are lacking comfort of a car in bad weather or when you need to commute more than 20-30...

Anyone use a solar system to charge your ebike? What system are you using?

Depends on what camping tour. It takes 6 hours of sunny weather for a 100W panel to charge 500W battery that is discharged near zero. If you are doing radial trips, you either need a second battery or stay put every 2nd day, and somebody has to stay on the camp when you're away. If you travel...

Another reason to ride an ebike: privacy

2 conditions must be met: 1) Cell phone must be On. 2) GPS must be On. I only turn my cell phone on when there is some possibility of important incoming calls, which is - probably - less than 12 hours a day. You may also temporarily disable your GPS tracker, then whoever wants to track you...

Perfect bike for a short rider?

Biktrix Stunner LT Small has 15.4 frame size. It also has stand-over height 20" (the lowest point to stand OVER it) - this is pretty high as step-through frames go. Won't cause problems standing over it but can be more hassle to step through it when getting into a saddle. You might also...
