    Trek Allant+ 9S or Stromer St2?

Hi Stefan, you are wrong w/r/t the Stromer. They're indeed heavier to carry and lift onto a bike rack. If one needs to transport the bike a lot and lift it it can be an issue for some. BUT they're faster and as nimble as any other commuter bike. Their weight is NEVER an issue while riding. They...

    ST7 light?

For the moment they're delivering the first batch of ST7's with the M99 Pro. That is until they use up all their stock. apparently there is a compatibility issue between both models ( different voltages : Pro 24-75 V vs Pro 2 6-12V. I've heard that an upgrade to the Pro 2 would be offered but...

It does or at least as soon as it gets cell network reception.

Sounds good! I hope this works for you. Have you done it or are you waiting to see if it works for others before trying?

Canada to restrict class 3 ebikes to 20mph

Does sound like good times 😁 Btw I have a dual citizenship American and n Dutch. Just happened to be born in Belgium and enjoy living there . Believe me we also have many issues that could be improved but as far as e-bikes it is pretty much the best in the world ( along with the Netherlands).

Canada to restrict class 3 ebikes to 20mph

Hi Tom, nanny state? Do you know that I’ve been drinking delicious beer legally and publicly since I was 16? How old do one need to be to have a nice cold one in the freedom loving USA 😉. Belgium has very clear legislation when it comes to 25km/h and 45km/h bikes. Not changing anytime soon...

Canada to restrict class 3 ebikes to 20mph

Many people in this forum brag non stop about how powerful (>500w)and fast (> 28mph) the bikes they’ve built are. With Chinese parts or parts made by Grin tech, which is Canadian, if I am not mistaken . A lot of this stuff ( looking at you Bafang) also exceeds the legal limits of Canada and...

Canada to restrict class 3 ebikes to 20mph

This sucks! I feel bad for those Stromer owners. To all those who are snickering at this situation: I pity you for your sad little, hollow , off topic comments. To be clear, I am not happy with the way Stromer and or the dealers and the Canadian government have handled this but try to understand...

Canada to restrict class 3 ebikes to 20mph

It doesn’t connect to wifi. It’s a 3g or 4g connection. This is established as soon as one powers on the bike and enters a zone covered by a cell phone carrier. Of course you don’t have to turn on the bike but if you want to ride it anywhere near a cellphone tower it gets complicated to avoid...

Canada to restrict class 3 ebikes to 20mph

I guess you’re either lucky or very proficient at fixing whatever issue might arise and have never needed the help of an Lbs. Not being able to do firmware updates affects the resale value of any bike. Reduced speed kills the value of any bike.

Canada to restrict class 3 ebikes to 20mph

The speed limit change will happen via an over the air update sent from our headquarters in Switzerland to your Stromer bike. There is nothing that you need to do. The over the air setting cannot be stopped from downloading, and neither a dealer nor a customer will be able to change it back to...

Canada to restrict class 3 ebikes to 20mph

You probably right. But do you always read and accept the “terms and conditions “ of all the apps you use? Do this make it fair in your opinion? Have you never been surprised to find out that Facebook, google, apple etc were using you for their benefit instead of the other way around?

Canada to restrict class 3 ebikes to 20mph

Hi Stefan, why do I get the strange feeling this makes you gleeful ? Does it make you happy that many people who may have bought these bikes in good faith by official well established dealers are getting their property damaged and devalued ? Some may have known something was amiss but this...

Canada to restrict class 3 ebikes to 20mph

My bad ! You’re right, that title would have been more appropriate. I am not familiar with the legislation concerning ebikes in Canada. I erroneously thought that they had class 1,2 and 3 bikes. Just like the US. So just to be clear : there are no legal class 3 (28mph) bikes in Canada ? No...

Canada to restrict class 3 ebikes to 20mph

Hi, just read a Facebook post by Canadian Stromer rider Travis Carnahan whose wife, apparently, received this email from Stromer that states the following: "Dear Canadian Stromer Customers, Canadian regulations stipulate that all Stromer e-bikes in Canada are not allowed to exceed 32 km/h...
