    My new Liberty Trike

Just ordered a 'refurbished' Classic 16" LT. Decided NOT to get one of the newer (heavier) 48v etrikes with 7-speed derailleur. My average speed is less than 12 mph as i'm rarely in a hurry being retired. There was a time i thought 15mph would be nice, but no longer, now content cruising at...

    Calling all math majors

Highly unlikely unless you're a featherweight with wind at your back, and highly efficient ebike with level urban paved paths (no inclines), even then you'd have to provide at least 50% power using pedal assist. Whoever told you 15 miles per volt (with pedal assist) is trying his/her best to...

    Twin motor trike custom build

Why? You already have a very nice ebike and etrike that others probably envy. After it's all said and done you may still prefer riding your existing etrike more often. Find an interesting and challenging hobby ;) instead of such a labor intensive and expensive time consuming PROJECT.

    Twin motor trike custom build

To make your ebike legal you need pedals, crank, chain/belt drive for one of the rear wheels. Otherwise without pedals you'd need to get a license; especially if you plan on speeds exceeding 28 mph. You could save yourself some money, intensive (sometimes frustrating) labor and start enjoying...

    Twin motor trike custom build

It sounds like too much work (frustration), and not much fun to get it to your satisfaction. Why not just get a 48v etrike with 7-speed derailleur (eg: Addmotor, Mooncool, Lectric XP). then make your own modifications to suit your interests. Should be more than enuf for your enjoyment. As for...

    Rad Trike vs Liberty Trike

Seeing as it's still 10s (36v nominal) assume any increase in speed (due to 20" tire) that what is gained in speed it now lacks in power requiring some more pedal power for steeper inclines. Going on 81 yrs it's a combo of (ghost) pedaling and throttle at level 3 (averaging 8-9 mph) which is to...

    Rad Trike vs Liberty Trike

Increased speed is due to new 20" front wheel assembly vs 16" wheel. It may be possible to replace front portion of LT's 16" front hub portion with the newer front portion with its 20" hub wheel for +2mph cruising speed, but not cost effective if it's already time to replace your older(well...

    Rad Trike vs Liberty Trike

About ready to buy another Liberty Trike this winter after having checked out other trikes. Decided not to go with 48v, 7-speed derailleur w/cadence sensor Trike. Most of my cruising is on urban pathways averaging 8mph (in 4th) with 7,380 miles since 2019 As you can see from the photo its use is...

    Stupid E-bike games?

BIG AMEN to that condition. The first time i drove in hilly San Fran didn't know if i could get going again without killing the engine when red light turned green, Scary experience taking foot off brake and giving it gas at same time ... for a newbie from Wisconsin.

FWIW ... Are there any ebikers that come to a complete STOP if no oncoming traffic ? Total e-bike ban after a fatality in Key Biscayne, FLA

From the article it sounds like he was showing off to some friends. It's true that the only difference between some men and some boys is the price of their toys ($22,000 v $4,000). He's considering a lawsuit as it's not his fault as much as it's the manufacturer and seller. He broke three...

Total e-bike ban after a fatality in Key Biscayne, FLA

It's very likely this kid (from Key Biscayne, FL) wasn't going faster than 20mph (throtte assist Class 2) when this accident occurred. Such an ebike serious collision could happen even at 12-15mph in an urban setting. Even if the ebike is considered Class 1 or Class 2 (20mph) the parent(s)...

CodyDog said: There is an overwhelming amount of irresponsible parenting in the world. That trend is on the rise. I recently came across a post about a father requesting advise in regard to which ebike to purchase for his son to address his son's desire for exercise. Later in the thread, the...

Total e-bike ban after a fatality in Key Biscayne, FLA

Apparently there were no witnesses to come forward. The boy's parents probably told him not to say anything. Somekind of a ban would be a good start. Kids under 15 can only ride Class 1, not Class 2. Class 3 (25-28mph) not until they are 18 (adult).

Always thought Class III (25-28mph) was just for adults (18 and up). A 12yr kid shouldn't be allowed to ride an ebike that's faster than his/her pedal power ... 15mph is fast enuf ... Europe has the right idea with 250w Pedelec power when it comes to teenagers and adults...

Total e-bike ban after a fatality in Key Biscayne, FLA

Think we all agree that it's the parents that are at fault. Was the young preteen son even wearing a helmet? What if the kid had been injured or killed instead of the woman (being 66 isn't "old" anymore). The parents would still find reason to fault the woman even if their preteen son wasn't...
