A worthy charity and some interesting bike tech!

Could be a simpler way to do retro-direct gearing. One chain could be a lower gear, only engage when going backwards, and help pulling cargo uphill. It does look like one is on a bigger chain ring than the other. Subs seem broken, so I couldn't read what the guy was saying myself.

Does my ideal bike exist already?

Personally, I have my Topeak child seat and rack in the rear, then attach my panniers to my front rack. So rather than trying to cram everything in the back, I just use the back for the passenger and the front for panniers. The child seat supports toolless removal, you just push a big red...

Seat post for backward movement of the saddle

Yeah, if that far back you need extra supports. Schwinn Stingray banana seats had a similar thing where there was the seat post in the front, then two supports coming off the back of the seat and going down to the rear axles: https://www.ebay.com/itm/256739330123

Seat post for backward movement of the saddle

I've always wanted to try one of those lay back seat posts for cruisers like: https://www.bikeberry.com/products/bbr-tuning-1-inch-x-15-inch-layback-seat-post-silver Or: https://www.ebay.com/itm/153143620251 Unfortunately, I have a baby seat on my rear rack, so it wouldn't leave room for her...

    Tubeless Blues

There are better pumps that help. I have a Topeak Joe Blow Booster pump that has a mode where you can fill up a tank then blast it out all at once. Shouldn't any crack be covered in rim tape anyway? Make sure the rim and valves are advertised as tubeless ready and remove the valve core.

Hidden battery in the DownTube replacements hard to find?

Expensive proprietary bikes with motors like from Bosch don't just have positive and negative lines coming out of the battery, but also CAN bus high and CAN bus low: The BMS in the battery pack has an extra driver chip to support this. The motor will refuse to work with a pack that doesn't...

Is mid-drive vs hub drive efficiency differential affect by pedaling cadence?

Not really surprising. The hub motor is the wheel itself. Any power it produces is going straight to the wheel because it is the wheel. Mid drive can only turn the wheel through the bicycle drive train, which includes something like 2-5% losses due to friction. Kind of ignores the strength of...

    Throttles and California

From what I've seen over here in Cali, for enforcement, that police will pace you in their cruiser. If you go over 30mph, boom. If you go over 20 without pedaling, boom. So not much change. It isn't like some European countries where they will put your bike on a dynamo yet.

my parent ask me for money, I need advice

Not sure I'd give money considering how often old people get involved with romance scams, crypto, gambling, drinking, etc.. One of my grandpa died from alcohol destroying his liver. One grandma went to Atlantic City to gamble every day the rest of her life after her husband died. That said...

REVIEW: QR-E 250W ELECTRIC BOOSTER BICYCLE MOTOR AND B60i AND B70 BATTERY

Wonder if they could have just used a metal roller like this RV mover: https://purplelineusa.com/product/enduro-trailer-mover-two-motor-system/

Looking For A Full Suspension Skinny Tire Step Through Commuter

You could always build your own. I ride an Ariel Rider X-Class full suspension fat tire ebike, but I put a narrow tire on the front. All you really need to know how to do is how to remove the short axle on a narrow tire front wheel and put in a long axle, like from a back wheel. It's pretty...

Help to identify ebike tiny version of 1T4 plug please

A good controller will also throw a voltage out of range fault and force you to clear it via software for a throttle signal that is too high. My Baserunner controller from Grin does that.

Tis better to have mirrors than not.

Was doing cruise control at ~30mph on a street around 5am in the morning and looked down to adjust a USB light. Had my Grin controller set to maintain throttle after keeping it blipped for a few seconds. Crashed into a dark blue steel trash can in the middle of the bike lane. Not much use for...

Tis better to have mirrors than not.

I had mirrors on my ebike and broke my right hand on one of them in my first crash. Made recovery a lot worse because I also had a broken hip, but couldn't use crutches because of the broken hand. I went flying over what I crashed into otherwise, so my hand probably would have been fine without...

Bafang bbsdh as we know it no more?

Wow, CAN bus and $115 programmer cable. That's rough. I have a decade old Bionx ebike that uses CAN bus and the official programmer was only $40. Even the DIY programming options for CAN bus like the Crumb128 and TinyCAN circuit boards are cheaper than that.
