    New to e-bikes first post.

Find a bike shop with a convenient place for test rides, go on a winter weekday when you will be their only customer. Ride as many as you can. Do this twice and you will know infinitely more than you do now. If you develop a real interest in riding the first bike you buy won't be your last so...

Thoughts and help on choosing my first ebike

I realize this is 6 weeks later but thought I'd chime in as I was in pretty much the OP's exact position 3 years ago when I got my first Ebike. Its hilly here in Nashville so maybe not a direct comparison but... I visited a few bike shops on nice winter days (usually no other customers) and...

Considering a Specialized, got a few questions

Maybe I'm wrong about a two hook carrier not working with rear fenders. Click on the link, the saris website shows a bike with fenders on their rack. Under product design they state ... Adjustable arms and wheel trays fit almost any type of bicycle, including those with fenders, mountain...

Considering a Specialized, got a few questions

My Kuat only has a hook for the front wheel. A plastic strap loops around the bottom of the rear wheel to hold the back down. The hook works with the front fender because the front edge of the fender is only a little bit forward of the fork. A rear hook would never work with a rear fender.

Considering a Specialized, got a few questions

Re: Shepard‘s hook carriers and fenders. I have a Como with fenders and a Quat hitch carrier. Works great, I’ve driven probably 5,000 miles with two Comos on the hitch carrier with no problems at all. I put the hook on the front tire and against the front edge of the fender. Mounting /...

    Help me prioritize features

I was in a somewhat similar position as you two years ago when I bought my first E bike. Got a Specialized Turbo Como which didn't meet some of my initial criteria but has turned out great so far. I was fortunate to be able to go to a local LBS that let me try out about half a dozen different...

Considering a Specialized, got a few questions

Sure it’s more effort to ride x mph unassisted vs. assisted. I can comfortably ride my Como about 9-10 mph unassisted on flat ground. That same effort yields 16-17 mph on Turbo. Riding 10 miles at 10 mph unassisted burns the same calories as riding 17 miles at 17 mph in turbo mode. My point...

Considering a Specialized, got a few questions

Gary, congrats on getting the new bike. A great feature it will have is the ability to tune exactly how the electric power boosts your riding power. I'd been riding for a year with ECO set to 20/40 and wanted to get more exercise benefit. It's easy to fiddle the settings to make the bike feel...

Turbo Como 3.0 tune to mimic analog bike?

The Tern only weighs about 30# but it’s a little folding bike so the ergonomics don’t fit me at all. Como is 62#. It also has bigger softer tires but the ergos fit me much better. I’m 162# if that matters. The Apple watch is the only way I have to measure effort on the acoustic bike. the...

Turbo Como 3.0 tune to mimic analog bike?

Got some data to share. This interest in fitness is because I just got an Apple Watch (Series 4, watch IOS9). That's how I measured the rides and a comparison is shown to the Mastermind Calories data. Each ride was the same 0.6 mile loop around my neighborhood, moderate hills, no traffic or...

Turbo Como 3.0 tune to mimic analog bike?

Thanks for the replies so far. I have ECO set at 20-40. After riding a bit today in OFF mode I think I’ll try 15-30 tomorrow.

Turbo Como 3.0 tune to mimic analog bike?

I've gotten back into biking via my E Bike and am thinking about getting an analog bike for more fitness rides. Storing another bike is an issue though plus the obvious cost of the bike. The Turbo Como is a real pig to peddle with the motor off but I'm wondering if anyone has figured out the...

Ebike for wife - Momentum Lafree E+?

REI has Cannondale Adventure Neo 4 on sale for $2500. My wife bought one last week. Stripped down, relatively light weight (48#). Bosch Active Line mid-drive. She had a Turbo Como 3.0 before, too big and heavy. She says her new bike feels a lot more like her old analog bike she remembers...

Rack and fenders for Adventure Neo 4?

Got my wife an Adventure Neo 4 from REI last week. She likes it a lot better than her too-big-and-heavy-for-her Turbo Como. It’s the stripped down end of the Adventure Neo line without rear rack or fenders. She would at least like a rack. I emailed Cannondale a week ago and left them a...

$500-$1000 for an ebike vehicle rack? I Don't Think So...

I have a kuat 2.0. One Shepards hook on the front wheel and a strap over the rear rim. Says not to use with fenders. I’ve driven 4-5000 miles with two 62# e-bikes on it with fenders. Hook goes on tire and against fender. Works perfect. These are specialized turbo comos with aluminum fenders...

    Specialised Como 5

Any interest in trying another Como? Maybe bought from a different shop? I really like mine and the battery range is plenty. Don't know what was wrong with your bike but sounds like Specialized wanted to make it right instead on having the LBS try to fix it and possibly inconvenience you...

$500-$1000 for an ebike vehicle rack? I Don't Think So...

What you don't get is the easy securing of the bike. With the Kuat 2.0 ( and I'm sure others). you put the bike on, push down the Shepards hook on the front tire and thread a strap over the rear tire. Takes maybe 30 seconds and is super secure. I've got a ramp sort of like you show for my...

    Specialised Como 5

Boy I’d be talking to Specialized directly. You paid a premium price for a top of the line bike. You are sure not getting premium service from your LBS.

    New guy

Love the brace and bits and eggbeaters. I'm not especially keen on old tools but I am old enough to remember using tools like that. Now? Love me some Fesstool! PS: Congrats on the bike. I stopped riding because I couldn't manage the hills here in Middle TN. E bike has got me back in the...
