Known Issues & Problems with Orbea Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

The carbon Gains have different geometry than the aluminum ones, so check that out. Also, the system can use a heart rate monitor to automatically change the assist level. I have not tried that yet though, so don't know how well that works. I've got a Bluetooth HR chest strap on order so I'll...

    ebikemotion X35

Was it set up for a 15 or 20 mph cutoff? Is there a USB port on the module? How were the gear cables run inside the frame?

Known Issues & Problems with Orbea Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

Yes. Search for ebikemotion in the app store. Go to the ebikemotion website for info on the app. I have an iPhone.

Known Issues & Problems with Orbea Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

I have an M30. What software? There's an iPhone or Android app that's available now (ebikemotion). It shows the level you are in. I'm unaware of any other software.

Known Issues & Problems with Orbea Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

The Bianchi is significantly more expensive. If you want tubeless, the Orbea uses Mavic UST. The Orbea is endurance geometry. I think the Bianchi uses traditional road geometry. Drivetrain components are the same, and you have more choice in the Gain line for that as well.

Great battery care article in new electric bike action magazine.

My garage gets quite hot in summer (~90 degrees F), and that's where I have to store and charge my bike (battery is not removable). Am I doing damage to my battery? I was thinking of putting the charger on a timer so it charges in the wee hours of the morning when it's cool.

    Orbea Gain E-Road Bike

I noticed something today riding my bike with the app. I set to assist to Level 0 (no assist), and while pedaling under 20 mph, the motor rpm was 200-250 (same as if it were under powered assist). When I pedaled over 20 mph, the motor rpm dropped to ~44. So, am I wasting my pedaling effort by...

    How To Judge Quality

Volt bike is a direct to consumer sales company. No local dealers or shops. If it breaks, you deal with the company direct and probably have to fix it yourself, or maybe, if you're lucky, you can get a local bike shop to fix it (good luck with that). Where did you get the idea that they sell...

    How To Judge Quality

Where can you get a Volt or Spark bike repaired when it breaks? Do you think these companies will be in business in the long term so you can get parts? I would recommend buying an ebike from an established bicycle company at a local bike shop. Even then, who knows if repair parts will be...

How struggling can it be to lift a 60lbs eBike to the 3rd floor?

I have an Orbea Gain. It weighs about 26 pounds.

    Orbea Gain E-Road Bike

The app allows you to change the assistance percentage for the three levels.

    Orbea Gain E-Road Bike

It seemed to give a more reasonable power level, but I mostly use eco mode. I need to ride more challenging terrain, but it's winter here and I'm just doing local rides.

    Orbea Gain E-Road Bike

Why not make a trip to the US and buy a Gain there? You might have trouble getting it serviced in Canada though until they are carried there. I dropped my level 2 power on my Gain to 85%, as I thought it gave too much assistance and thus used too much battery.

    Orbea Gain E-Road Bike

Since you have both, what are your impressions from riding the Giant vs the Orbea? I was reading on the Trek website that the Domane+ range is 50-60 miles when ridden in eco mode; same as the Gain. It must be only half as efficient as the range is the same but the battery is twice as large. I...

    Orbea Gain E-Road Bike

Maybe it is. I'll have to try soft pedaling to see what the output is.

    Orbea Gain E-Road Bike

Yes but in the case of the motor output, isn't it just a simple volts x amps calculation? Why should volts or amps vary so much? Confused. There's also a graph in the app that shows consumption (w) and assistance. I assume that it's not measuring my pedaling input.

    Orbea Gain E-Road Bike

I used the ebikemotion app for the first time on my bike yesterday. Anyone else notice that the power percentage reading jumps around so you don't get a consistent reading?

Known Issues & Problems with Orbea Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

There's an app that works with the system. I mounted my phone on my bike and I used the app for the first time today. It shows motor rpm. When I'm coasting, the motor rpm is 0. When I exceed 20 mph while pedaling, it shows a low rpm (not the 200+ rpm it would show just before the motor cuts...

I'm not noticing any drag that I can discern while riding the bike.

    Yamaha Ebike Motor RPM Support

Those studies are misleading and don't consider endurance. High cadence (like 90 rpm) saves your legs on long rides. Read some books on cycling coaching and training. It's not just for pros either. Even if you can't do that kind of cadence on climbs, you save your legs if say you can pedal at 70...
