Read Zeek48's posting above. He has both bikes and prefers the Gain over the Giant.

    Ebikemotion x35 speed limiter "fix"

What rotors do you have? I can't find Ultegra 6 bolt rotors on the web, so maybe you have XT rotors?

Don't charge your bike battery above 80% and don't ride below 20%. Maybe, maybe not.

The charge to 80 % might work for some that have big battery packs or that don't ride too far, but I need all of my battery capacity to ensure I don't run out of juice on a ride.

That would be ideal, but near impossible for the end user to be able to modify the software/firmware the way it's currently set up. The user can't even flash a firmware update (has to be done by the bike shop that has password access to the dealer App).

    Ebikemotion x35 speed limiter "fix"

My guess is that someone has to open up the motor and figure out how to jumper/bypass something in there.

I like the color. In the US, we only have 3 color choices. I got black, but I'm not that keen on the color.

I don't think pedaling cadence has any affect on motor power, which is affected by motor rpm (which is directly related to speed) and probably load as well. The motor (through internal fixed gearing) directly drives the rear wheel. The gear you are in doesn't matter.

I'll probably get one, hopefully with a discount. Since I saved ~$800 by getting Shimano 105 vs. Ultegra, that will pay for most of the battery.

    trump tariffs

A lot of bikes are built in China, but as contract labor. Most bike companies are not Chinese. I can't even think of any Chinese bike companies, maybe for low end bikes that I wouldn't buy anyway. Bicycle manufacturing is not particularly high tech, so a lot of developing countries could take...

    Bike mirror recommendation

I use an eyeglass mounted mirror from Take a Look. Handlebar mounted mirrors vibrate too much and the image is blurred.

I'm just pointing out where I think you're wrong, criticizing the Gain where it's unfounded. You make it sound like all bikes have thumb buttons too, which is wrong as well. Removing a hand from the bar and looking around is not dangerous, if you careful and know what you're doing. The one...

There are Class 1 road bikes out there with big batteries. Yamaha makes one.

    Fazua in the USA

This review of a Fazua equipped bike says the unit must be at least partially removed to charge, and recommends removing it completely to charge. https://www.cyclingweekly.com/reviews/e-bikes/focus-paralane2 Also note the location of the handle bar mounted control in one of the article photos.

If you're uncomfortable taking one hand off the bar, you need to up your cycling skill level. Seriously. How do you take a drink from a bottle? Ever use downtube shifters (OK that's a bit dated). You also need to look at what's going on behind you when riding on the road. I use a mirror but lots...

Like I've said in other postings, once you learn/get used to the one button, it's just fine. One push to get it out of the power indicator mode and another push to move up a level, etc. I can even use it by feel. If you mount your phone on the stem or bar, you can use the app to see what mode...

No problem. Didn't think you were. I'm sure there are qualities where one would prefer one over the other, depending upon their needs. I'm waiting for the battery too so I can ride a century with it without running out of power. Mostly I'm riding in L1 mode with limited use of L2, so running out...

    Fazua in the USA

Disadvantages of the Fazua: heavier e-system and frame. Downtube is a C section rather than a stronger and lighter tube. I think hub drives are better for road bikes. I like decoupling my pedaling / cadence from the drive system. Wider Q factor for the Fazua. The Fazua power coupling looks...

Nice! Personally, I like the ebikemotion system better and I think they will eventually come out with the bottle battery.

The battery, motor, and controller are attached as one unit. You would have to carry all of this as a spare. Not only is a lot more expensive than just buying a spare battery, it's also a lot heavier. Unless you have information that the battery part alone can be purchased separately and is...
