Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

Most links are reusable with reason, but the KMC links that I just got for the 12-speed chain on my SL says specifically Non-Reusable, probably due to the thinner link plates.

So you put it on the lower chain run and pedal forwards? If so, it seems like you'd be pulling the lower chain run (and putting tension on it) from the cassette end instead of the chainring end. Doesn't that stretch out the derailleur cage if there's a lot of drag from the tool? At least that's...

My wife's mid-motor Trek Verve+ with the Bosch system can be pedaled backwards to move the chain in that direction.

Not in any stores within 200 miles of me, but should be here by Thursday.

I'm not sure of the exact reason, but look down at your crank some time while you're pedaling and then stop pedaling. You'll see the crank gear make at least a partial revolution after the cranks arms have stopped moving. It's that "freewheel" clutch that is what also keeps you from turning it...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

This has probably been covered in the forum but maybe there's a fresh take on it. On my bikes, I've always done routine chain maintenance by using one of those chain cleaning devices that clamps around the chain, then let it dry and relube it, etc. I've always done this by turning the cranks...

Brought a new Vado 5.0 home today!

When I first had my new SL at home, I had a moment of panic when I couldn't find any keys in the equipment box! 😁

Brought a new Vado 5.0 home today!

That mirror appears to be sold under a number of different brand names. I got mine in the U.S. from Amazon: Hafny Bar End Bike Mirror

Anybody Ride a Specialized Turbo Tero Yet?

I agree that this might be behind the reason for it being a Class 1 bike. Not only national parks, but also lots of other rail-trails and such pathways are posted "Class 1 only". I regularly ride my Class 3 Vado on them, keeping to a reasonable speed, but someday someone is going to start trying...

Vado SL 5.0 - lights go on when charging - how to turn them off?

Or because they re-purposed the buttons. The bottom button that operated the Vado light is now for Walk Mode, the "+" button that was Walk on the older Vado is now held in to activate Micro-tune, and the top button cycles the pages on the Mastermind TCU.

I thought I recognized your name. I've ridden a couple of those (road bike on Kickr CORE) since I like to do virtual rides in places that are especially interesting. I've also seen your posts in the FulGaz Riders group on FB.

Vado SL 5.0 - lights go on when charging - how to turn them off?

I'm still wishing for a way to turn the light off when I'm riding, as I think it's unnecessary and annoying to others when I'm riding off-road on paths or trails (which is 95% of my riding!). My Vado 4.0 supported this, why not the SL?

Specialised turbo Vado SL 5.0 EQ my impressions after four rides

As confirmed above, the 5.0s come with tubeless-ready rims. Also, the EQ comes with the Nimbus tires and the non-EQ with Pathfinders. I'll probably convert to tubeless next year when I might be able to better judge if the Pathfinders are enough of an all-purpose tread pattern for my type of...

My road bikes have always had Shimano 105 components, so I've never been able to try out the "double-tap" SRAM drop-bar shifters, which are quite different. At least with the flat-bar controls their basic operation is the same.

Unfortunately, the SRAM shifter on the 5.0 does not work that way.

ANT+ is a broadcast protocol. There is no "connection" per se, and any number of devices can simultaneously be receiving the same signal. However, in the case where a device can be controlled by ANT+, such as light networks, only one controlling device, such as a Garmin Edge, can be connected.

FYI, my Edge 1030+ also uses BT to connect to sensors that support BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy). The most recent Garmin speed sensor that I bought broadcasts both ANT+ and BLE, as does my Polar Verity Sense heart monitor (and my Wahoo Kickr trainer). Of course, Specialized may or may not implement...

There is no separate level display for the RE. The "120 screen configs" is just a gimmick using combinatorics: there are several choices of screen layout selecting the number of fields and relative sizes, then for each field there are X different parameters that can be displayed and they just...

Pathfinder Sport. If I decide to go full tubeless I'll consider the Pros, but that won't be until next year's riding season at the earliest.

I have no idea what Stefan is ranting going on about above -- must be some people as concerned about level of battery charge as I am about weight ;). For the record, I swapped the cheap sidestand from Amazon today for the one from Specialized and saved 0.5oz (14g). At least it looks better --...
