Looking For A High-Visibility Bicycle Helmet Recommendation

I used a Bontrager Solstice in Lime Green for a number of years, I thought the color stood out quite a bit.

    Vado 4.0 SL

Sleek-looking machine for sure. Welcome, and congratulations on the new ride.

Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

Continuing with the Green Grass of Southwest Wisconsin theme…… A few shots from a ride southwest of Mineral Point, WI; about a 39-mile loop with ~2000 ft of climbing. No shortage of hills here One of many bridges on the Cheese Country Trail (converted railbed) that runs...

Not riding again until I install mirrors

I’ve used the Bike Pedder Take-A-Look for many years and still find it’s what I like best. Probably because I am so familiar with it. Of course it requires wearing some sort of glasses… I’m sure it’s considered a huge fashion faux-pas by many. Those PaceEarth ones on the Amazon link mentioned...

New Schwalbe Ebike Tire for 2022

It looks like a long-lifed tread. I’ve yet to find a wire-bead tire that I felt had a ‘compliant’ ride- at least compared to a folding tire. Think I might try those Johnny Watts sometime.

Just a couple quick photos of a ride northwest of Dodgeville, WI. I guess maybe when you’ve seen one picture of green grass you’ve seen them all. 😂

New rider confession: my butt hurts

Might be a difficult problem to resolve, Frank, if you can’t try other seats. I have Selle Anatomicas on all of my bikes, but I would never suggest to anyone that they’re the ‘holy grail’ of bike seats, because everyone is different. But they work well for ME. A thickly padded seat isn’t...

Specialized Turbo Vado/Como/Tero/Tero X User Club

I did contemplate a smaller chainring, Marcela and Stefan- and wouldn’t be opposed to going that route. My idea of going with a bigger rear cassette was to get some lower gear inches, but not lose any on the top. Realistically, the amount of time I spend in Turbo roaring around at 28 MPH 🙂 is...

I can completely understand. My wife and I spent ten years in Arizona before moving back to the Midwest….not a big fan of the winters for sure.

A ~65-mile ride in the Viroqua, WI area; about 3/4 of the route was gravel. Appx. 4,200 ft of climbing. My nephews are quite loyal to John Deere farm equipment so I had to take a photo by this county road grader. This was, of course, NOT a problem for the Turbo Vado. 🤣 I’ve...

Specialized Turbo Vado/Como/Tero/Tero X User Club

Time for some lower gears on the Vado. Did a 65-mile ride today with about ~4,000 feet of climbing; the 51-tooth is really nice for the hills I ride in in southwest Wisconsin.

Going to document my weight loss

Congratulations so far and best wishes ahead, Frank!! I’ve used My Fitness Pal to track calories (a bit tedious maybe) and that has really helped me stay focused on weight loss when needed. I know it is said diet soda is not the best for a person….I would sure have a though time giving it up...

Vado SL feels like a real bike, but seems expensive to this very experienced bike rider. Thoughts? Alternatives?

It is possible you could find other ebikes to test ride. But the idea that there’s a bike for considerably less money that will give you the same svelte feeling and polished finished of the Vado SL….well, that’s usually not how it works. Regarding the price, it is not difficult to spend...

2022 Vado: Turbo Basket and Tailwind Panniers

That basket sure looks like it would be handy. Seems like the Tailwind panniers get favorable reviews from what I’ve read. You happy with yours?

    New Vado Owner

Thank you! Wish we could get a day w/out either rain or 30+ MPH winds so a ride wasn't an endurance test!

Anyone use a trainer with your ebike?

I use my Trek Powerfly 5 on my Kinetic Rock-N-Roll stationary trainer. I keep the motor off and just use it as if it’s a non-ebike on the trainer. This has worked very well. I do install a narrower rear wheel to accommodate the trainer-specific tire.

Ebike rack for 2014 Civic sedan

I had 1-1/4” receiver hitches on both a Civic and a Prius, for the purpose of using a hitch-mounted bike rack. Worked well, although this was before the ebike days, so the bikes were at most 30 lbs each. There are several good ones out there, Thule, Yakima, Kuat, Saris, OneUp, to name a few...
