    Wheel Not Turning Evenly

Yep, and the best way to get it seated fully is with the bike upright.

Getting What You Need From a Cycling GPS

The Wahoo Element units do support Varia radar. I have an Element, and it works perfectly, showing it vertically on the left side of the screen. If I’m not mistaken, the Bolt shows it horizontally on the top of the screen……I think.

Getting What You Need From a Cycling GPS

I don’t know how to fix your speed readings with Wahoo units, but if your Creo is a 2021 or earlier model I believe you could use the BLEvo app to get GPS speed readings.

No throttle and no way home today... :(

Jumping on a bike with a throttle may be difficult for some at first, but I think a little instruction goes a long way toward avoiding disaster. My wife and my grandson both had no trouble with their Class 2 bikes, and I think that’s what made the difference. On the other hand, I let a friend...

Response from Specialized re- Ride App Functionality

I’ve had only one interaction with Specialized Rider Care…. My Creo is a 2021, in which year they painted the top bar with a clear finish. As a result, the carbon fiber is visible. I guess somebody thought that was a cool look, but I personally think it looks rather awful. I contacted them to...

Specialized Creo (all models) - Longest Rides/Biggest Climbs

I’m confused by your statement “Eco mode will give 10 miles or so of range of normal riding”. Eco provides far more range than 10 miles. Perhaps you mean that’s your personal range, based on physical ability, rather than battery range(?). That I could relate to…at least some days. Or perhaps my...

Specialized Creo (all models) - Longest Rides/Biggest Climbs

If you need a little assist, but really want to save battery, and you have a model year 2021 or earlier, download the BLEvo app and add the O-Synce remote (purchase link is provided within the app). It will allow you to increase assistance in 5% or 10% increments, as selected in the app setup...

Riding Clothes - In Praise of Clown Suits

I typically wear loose-fitting clothing when riding. I discovered the downside a few weeks ago, when a bee got caught in the folds of my shirt and repeatedly stung my belly. To add insult to injury, it also stung my finger when I brushed it off. Fortunately, I’m not allergic to bee venom, but it...

No throttle and no way home today... :(

None of that matters to me. I only ride about 1,000 miles per year, purely for pleasure, though I also appreciate the exercise value. I ride a mid-drive (Creo), and I couldn’t care any less about the life of my components. I’ll get what I get out of them, and gladly buy new when they become worn...

    Do I need cycling shoes?

If you happen to have plantar fasciitis, I’d recommend buying the stiffest shoe you can find. My experience says if you can walk in them as though they’re tennis shoes, they’re not stiff enough to prevent pain. I can walk okay in my MTB shoes, but I wouldn’t choose to do so for longer than...

    Do I need cycling shoes?

Not necessarily true. Many (all?) MTB shoes are specifically manufactured to grip the spikes. I have a pair of Specialized “2FO DH Flat Mountain Bike Shoes”, which are very stiff, and they don’t slide at all. In fact, I can lift a foot, and the pedal will come with it…..they’re still easy to...

Get a good helmet, and wear it.

My daughter is a horse trainer and teaches jumpers. She’s the one who told me about MIPS helmets, and requires her students purchase one before their first lesson. Standards may be different, but good helmets are available. Unfortunately, her business partner died about a year ago when she was...

    Do I need cycling shoes?

I’ll second what rich c said; MTB shoes. Like you, I want nothing to do with clips of any sort, but tennis shoes weren’t cutting it. I bought a pair of Specialized MTB shoes, and I’m thrilled with them. They’re super stiff, and they grip the pedals much better than tennis shoes.
