    Wide ratio ebike cassette?

On my Kona Hoss with BBSHD I used a 9 speed 11-46T Sunrace cassette with the KMC ebike chain and the 42T bling ring. Very happy with it so far, climbs hills great but still works well at speed on the flat.

After a ridiculous amount of thought I'm going to start my Kona Hoss BBSHD build

Yes, I replaced the 52v version with the 48v version. Wattage has not displayed correctly over 1000w with either.

Chain ring too close to frame

Three options that come to mind for me are shimming the whole motor to the right, using a different chain wheel, or spacing the chain wheel to the right.

would this work for anti theft?

It will not stop a theft but I hop it slows them down bit. I've used a Bafang magnetic brake switch as a kill switch by sticking the magnet on a bit of ferrous metal beside the switch (on the front brake handle assembly). When parking the bike or if confronted by an ebike police check I can...

A handlebar riser does make for a more comfortable ride-for me

I fitted one of these extenders recently and I'm very happy with it so far, my back is much happier. https://www.amazon.ca/Triwonder-Bicycle-Extender-Handlebar-Aluminium/dp/B01N24G2WH/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=bike+stem+extender&qid=1616022681&sr=8-5

After a ridiculous amount of thought I'm going to start my Kona Hoss BBSHD build

I've been wondering why my voltage graph on the 500c display never showed a full charge even though the numerical readout was showing 54v. Turns out the BBSHD was shipped with 52v firmware on it, flashed it with the 48v firmware and now the display reads correctly. The hill climbing ability of...

After a ridiculous amount of thought I'm going to start my Kona Hoss BBSHD build

Just took the E-Hoss out for the first ride and it is a hoot! No problem with the steepest paved hills around here while it can also go nice and slow around foot traffic but can still give it the beans when the cost is clear. I've fitted 26x3.0 tires to give it a bit more footprint and a 11-46T...

After a ridiculous amount of thought I'm going to start my Kona Hoss BBSHD build

I've been waiting for the weather to get nice enough for a test ride.

After a ridiculous amount of thought I'm going to start my Kona Hoss BBSHD build

It is just about all together and I've test run it on a stand in the basement. Everything seems good to go. Just waiting for the bag to carry the battery then I can take it for a spin and get some photos of it.

If he wants to have a look at mine when I'm done I'm just across the river from Bowness.

A handlebar riser does make for a more comfortable ride-for me

I've used the bar ends in the near vertical position for years to give my back and shoulders a break while riding. I'm now considering added one of those stem extenders as well.

    Parallel battery charging?

Your thinking here mirrors my own, the part that confuses me is that the shop I've bought them from says I can charge them together and I can't wrap my head around how this will work safely. I think I'll charge them separately unless I can find a good explanation as to why they can be charged...

After a ridiculous amount of thought I'm going to start my Kona Hoss BBSHD build

Yes I've measured the bike and found one other person that has fitted a BBS02 to the same bike so I think that should be good. I also have another back up bike that I could use it on though that one is not as suitable for rough trails.

    Parallel battery charging?

I was intending to use a simple parallel pigtail arrangement like the first one you list. However, the doohickey thing from Wattwagons is a rather elegant method but it doesn't appear to answer my charging question.

    Parallel battery charging?

I'm intending to run a pair of matched 48v 10.5ah Lithium batteries in parallel. Each battery has it's own BMS (BMS SPECS = 15A RATED CONTINUOUS DISCHARGE, 50A MAX DISCHARGE, 5 AMP CHARGING CURRENT). I am intending to run them in parallel because I suspect that they are a little under rated for...

After a ridiculous amount of thought I'm going to start my Kona Hoss BBSHD build

I was considering ordering in a Bling Ring or similar but I think I need to wait and see how it all lines up on the Hoss before ordering so that I get the best offset/alinement for the chain.

    Mid drive on Yukon?

I forgot to add that I emailed Volt and they said that I couldn't fit a mid drive unit to the Yukon though they didn't explain why.
