Boschs Purion - "Change Display Battery"

I wanted to drop this comment in here for what it’s worth. My Purion display would give me the “change battery” message, I’d change the little batteries, and after 3 weeks, I’d get the same message. I thought the display was defective, and I know the dealer would have fixed it- but I just...

When will companies reveal 2020 models?

That’s too bad. They were on my list to consider- I thought the loft was an attractive bike with classic style, and for the price, it came “fully loaded”.

    Low Step Bike Choices

Here’s a picture of my bike. It’s not a true step through. I’m a 62 year old woman, 5’5” with degenerative disc disease and scoliosis. As you can see, my bike is not a true step through. It’s an mtb style bike. I can get on and off it just fine by tilting the bike and kind of letting it glide...

    Low Step Bike Choices

I’m in a very similar position to you, and bought my ebike back in February. I would only ask how much biking have you done before deciding to get an ebike?

    At What Price .......?

Puncture resistant tires are a big deal. I went on a 25 mile ride today, and at one point stopped and picked about 4 goathead thorns out of my front tire, none of which resulted in a flat. My bike has Super MotoX tires, which feel good for road and light trail riding. They are not, however, mtb...

    Is the animus overblown?

Agree. I’ve been riding 6 months and about 1000 miles so far. It’s all been friendly curiosity. If I’ve gotten any input at all from the Lycra crowd, it’s been attempts to “help”- “You’re saddle is too low!” “You’re saddle is too high!” No my saddle is just right. I had it checked. I even had it...

    Riding with non-e-bikes

Uhh. Let them “win”. I love it. I haven’t done any group riding yet- thinking about it. But I live near the San Gabriel foothills and I’m starting to explore. Love the WTF look I get when they see a hefty lady old enough to be collecting SS climbing “their” hills. I’ve gotten some strange...

    What is your security set-up?

When I’m saying “not safe”, I’m thinking more in terms of being vandalized. Nobody was likely to bring an angle grinder and cut through an Abus lock, however, leaving a bike out all day at my workplace would have been an invitation to get everything stripped off the bike that could possible be...

    What is your security set-up?

I dunno. I also live in SoCal and don’t consider it to be particularly high crime- but I’m not in LA. I’m in the outlying burbs, and people are surprisingly casual about bike security. I see people with high end racing bikes who don’t lock them at all. (Assume they are watching) I have the Abus...

    ebike insurance

If you are ok with the $25-30+ a month it will cost you, want the value of the bike covered without a $1000.00 deductible, and it’s available where you live, it sounds like velosurance might be your best bet.

Best ebike on the market if money is no issue?

The best bike is the bike that works for you. It’s a machine, but it you will come to know it and rely on it. A good bike will be like a friend. I bought my bike from Propel bikes in Long Beach, on the other coast, and I can highly recommend their business. I would try a bunch of bikes out-...

    I ? my EBike!

Mine does get a pat on the handlebars after a good ride. And he has a name- either the Iron Horse, or the Gray Ghost. He’s my ticket to freedom and adventure.

    Water Bottle

I got the moosetracks handlebar bag, have been using it for a few months, and am very happy with it. Carries a water bottle, can of Halt for fractious dogs, and an energy bar, doesn’t interfere with steering

    Police Harassment

Personally, I just can’t bring myself to ride without a helmet. It’s like not wearing a seatbelt. Not only that, it’s a mountain bike helmet of blinding whiteness, because I’ve noticed when I’m out driving, that a white helmet on a biker catches the eye. I think it’s a matter of common sense...

Now I know why bikes arrive bent

I’ve known FEDEX drivers to ditch if it’s a heavy package and end of day. I’m pretty sure one drove in front of my apartment, stopped, didn’t go to the door (I live on 2nd floor) and claimed he’d tried to deliver (he didn’t leave note or door tag).

    Safety and bike lanes

I live in a suburban community that has some really nice bike lanes, but in several of our 6 lane major streets, they’ve painted a 3 foot wide strip and called it a day. No sane person would use them, as those streets get a lot of warehouse traffic. Anyone who does have to ride in that area...

Saw lots of ebikes the past few days and a jerk on an A2B

Which again, would be unfair, among other things. Because you don’t need an electric motor on My bike doesn’t have a throttle, but I can see where one would really be a help. Some of us don’t have the strength or balance we used to, and most ebikes are HEAVY. Forget to downshift before you...

Saw lots of ebikes the past few days and a jerk on an A2B

Also, I do read a lot of writing and reviews by the acoustic bike community. While emtb’s are gaining acceptance, there’s an attitude of “ We fought really hard for years to gain access to trails, and we don’t want irresponsible emtb’ers to ruin it” Which is a shame. The condition of my back...

Saw lots of ebikes the past few days and a jerk on an A2B

I’ve seen this, too. Ebikes are still pretty rare where I live. Seeing someone cruising along, not pedaling, with the throttle at 20 mph doesn’t make them seem like a bike.

    Bike Seat

Once your pelvic bones conform to the shape of the saddle, they are great!?
