    Is thus seat post OK?

You may have to put up with squeeking, a common complaint it seems. The tradeoff for economy.

Reasons you ride? - Aside from the obvious reason where riding is your passion.

I do it for fun. Exercise is a by-product. I don't want to exercise for the sake of exercise but I like biking. We drive electric vehicles, use battery powered lawn tools and have solar panels so the ebikes kinda complement the electric lifestyle.

Motorcycle riders - chain wax question

Even paraffin for bicycle chains is too involved for cyclists. There are so many lubes with easy application that we can readily buy. Heck, one of the best bikes I've ridden was a belt drive BMC Alpenchallenge, no lube needed.

Weapons training I enjoy are miao dao saber, fan and double weapons. I can translate the fan form to jian straight sword. I haven’t done flexible weapons. I also love the staff because it teaches a lot about joint locks.

My Wu teacher holds zoom classes. He wrote a book on the TC classics and he often includes them in discussions but it verges on philosophy. My Chen teacher doesn’t mention the classics but he has a lot of lectures that essentially teaches them in a more mundane manner. They’re both very high...

My son was doing kung fu before me. I would watch the classes and ended up joing kung fu too. I wasn't a very good student and progressed slowly. My learning was slowed down by a few military deployments. My last deployment, I was about 12 years into kung fu so people got the impression I had...

I have been doing Shaolin Northern Dragon for about 19 years, started when I was 36. About 10-11 yrs ago, the school joined the World Tai Chi Day celebrations by showing very basic Yang 24 form to the public. I didn't get it but it was something novel and a tad interesting (though greatly...

The Effects of Going on a Bike Ride

Actually in the middle of doing taichi right now. Eleven year journey that started with the Yang 24 but my bad form kept me reinjuring my knee. I learned Northern Wu style (I am listed in a book somewhere in Beijing I was told), and added Chen Man Ching Yang style, and Chen Xiao Jia (small...

    Bike riding etiquette

To me, bike etiquette means calling hazards, yelling "passing on your left" or "slowing" or "car back" when riding with others and using hand signals to show intent to turn or stop. Etiquette is also following traffic rules when bikes are using the road to travel, as opposed to trails or bike lanes.

    Bike riding etiquette

The faster the riders are, the less likely they wave or wave back. They don't have bells on their bikes. They are looking down at the wheel in front of them as they draft, concentrating on cadence, power output, heart rate, gearing, pacelines, speed and trying not to crash. The worst are the...

I often ride around sunset or in the dark. So lights are really important to me as I ride in the edge of a pine forest. I find out that since I'm the only thing that is lit up, I don't have to have the brightest anything because i already stand out. Also, night rides tend to be no longer than 15...

    Fuji E-Nevada Two.1

I was recently in the market for an ebike. Already have a Rad Rover which we love but it is the antithesis of a light, fast bike. It's a chore handling it. The usual suspects were considered from Rad, Ride1Up, Aventon, Blix, Surface 609, etc and maybe up to the Cannondale Treadwell Neo (which...

    Canyon?

I've been out of the road cycling scene for years. Used to be able to hang with some hammerheads on a good day (23mph avg, ouch) so I was a bike snob for a spell. I used to read the Euro bike mags and salivate at the latest and greatest bike tech. Cycling died for me when I moved to a place with...

    Canyon?

Canyon made their name in high performance road bikes geared for racers and "weight weenies" in Germany. Reputation made it so that pro racing teams lined up to get them. IIRC, the ride quality was very stiff on the early bikes so racers flocked to it. Germans get nuts with weight cutting and...
