Weird PAS and throttle issue evo cross

I would check all external connections first. My Evo Cross shut down completely on my first long ride, turned out the connector between controller and display was loose. Probably not the cause for your issue, from the sound of it, but worth checking. If that doesn't fix it, get thee to the shop.

Getting ready to pull the trigger-last questions

The Evo Cross is great (my commuter), but you would have to replace the tires for any significant amount of trail riding. They might be ok for a short stretch of hard-packed dirt, but they're squirrely as hell on even a little bit of loose stuff.

    Error 13

After a complete firmware update, I no longer see Error 13. But, since the update, I have seen Error 5 a few times, accompanied by power loss. It recovers on it's own after 5-10s, but it is disconcerting when traveling at high speed in traffic. Anyone know what Error 5 means?

    Lighting harness for Evo line?

The days are getting shorter, and I'll be commuting in the dark soon. A while back I asked my dealer about getting a lighting wiring harness for Evo Cross to connect to the Evo battery, and was told it was not available for the Evo Cross at that time. Anybody here obtained a harness for their...

battery life: better to not fully charge?

Thanks for the reference! He also said that charging to 100% can be more damaging than even a complete discharge. So maybe charge to 90% most of the time, but go to 100% periodically? I guess it's pretty silly trying to come up with a reasonable charging regimen without knowing what the...

battery life: better to not fully charge?

I know that keeping batteries stored long-term at full charge is not good for battery life. I've seen recommendations that, for long-term storage, battery charge should be maintained around 50-80%, as storage at full charge puts some kind of strain on the batteries. This got me to thinking...

    Error 13

I get error 13 daily on a particularly long steep hill at the end of my 11 mile commute. Near the top of the hill when I am on 2nd chain ring, 2nd (low) sprocket, max assist, battery @ 50%, the error appears as I drop to about 5-7mph. The motor keeps working, and the error goes away when I...

    removing the display unit key?

The display on my EVO Cross is a little difficult to get off. Push from the bottom of the display. There is a little tab underneath that can be pressed, but it seems to make no difference whether I press it or not. Also note that there is a little screw that can be used to deter theft (I...

Body Float / Thudbuster for ST2

Love the BodyFloat. Keep in mind it is best at alleviating harshness (high frequency/low amplitude bumps & vibration).

    Life span of an eBike

I ride my 2015 Evo Cross about 120 miles a week. Because of 5 year warranty (not including battery), I hope to get at least 5 years out of it with only one battery replacement (I usually take battery down to only 50%).

    California Riders: Please support AB-1096

I have a throttle, never use it, and would gladly accept some somewhat imperfect limitations upon it to gain legal access to a massive number of existing trails. There is nothing to say the law could not be further improved now or later.

    California Riders: Please support AB-1096

This bill allows electric bike access to all public bike paths by default, instead of prohibition by default. Is it sane to let 'perfect' be the enemy of huge progress?

Got my 1st "cheater" shout today

Many use the 'cheater' label as playful recognition of someone 'taking the easy way'. I've even used it upon myself when someone got the wrong impression that I commute to work solely by my own power, responding to them with with 'yes, but I cheat a bit - this is an electric bike'. Not saying...

Questions about "Distance To Go" and "Ah" setting on new display unit

For my 12mi commute, I started at 5 bars/100%, max assist, and miles to go was 15mi. During the ride, miles to go steadily dropped down to almost zero until I lost the 2nd bar (3 bars/55%), at which point it popped up to 19mi and began decreasing again. Miles to go did not increase when I lost...

Questions about "Distance To Go" and "Ah" setting on new display unit

I can get well over 30mi on full assist, including some big hills, so 15mi is way off. Miles to go until you lose a bar seems like an incredibly odd metric to present on the display, but I'll try to observe what it does as I drop bars on my commute home tonight.

Questions about "Distance To Go" and "Ah" setting on new display unit

If that is so, it is woefully inaccurate on my bike. I *wish* I could get 15 miles on one bar! That is what that my display showed after my last full charge.

Can't get up to 23mph - bummed out

I'm all about ebikes for commuting, so tend to agree with Bike_On regarding the potential growth of the ebike commuter demographic. EBikes made a bike commute feasible for me Op7, why does your desired commute require > 20mph? Is it travel time? Or a need to keep up with traffic? Just...

    Faster Charging?
