Rohloff E14mm 9mm QR on superdelite

The standard skewer included with the Coho XC will work fine. The only downside to applying the Burley Ballz to the Superdelite is that you lose the ability to lock the rear wheel with Hexlox, so you’ll have to ensure you lock the rear wheel if you reside in an urban environment and there is...

My Path to Living (Mostly) Without Cars

Well, as the OP, I can tell you that I investigated the options quite thoroughly, evaluated Specialized bikes from the Como, the Vado, and the Levo, each of the latest iterations; as well as other bikes, evaluating transmissions and motors and maintenance and service costs for all of them. I...

    Quad Lock Phone Mount?

Yes, I have the QuadLock Pro version, which is milled from aluminum, and therefore very stiff. I found putting the iPhone on a bit fussy until you get used to it (must be aligned at 45 degrees and level to the mounting structure, then turned to lock). Riding around on bad streets, which is...

My Path to Living (Mostly) Without Cars

Agree about ebikes being excellent for health. The studies are proved out by my experience: I ride far more and further than I ever would on my acoustic MTB. It turns out that regular extended exercise with less work is bettah than relatively short sprints of concentrated exertion. Who knew...

It undoubtedly is the extraordinary COVID delays compounded by overwhelming demand. The feelz, man. These unexpected delays are the worst. I dealt with it all trying to savor the anticipation. But that’ll only get you so far.

My Path to Living (Mostly) Without Cars

Why, thank you. I ended up being surprised that ebikes are more complicated and complex than I ever imagined. So when I pulled on a thread, it was I who got pulled in. Thought I‘d document it. The cost may be a rounding error to some, but $12 grand is $12 grand. I mean: You could get dinner out...

My Path to Living (Mostly) Without Cars

Thank you. My hope is that it is helpful to those who, like me recently, are without any information at all about ebikes, searching for answers. The weather here in San Francisco is generally pretty good. Not SoCal good. But good enough. I have some foul weather gear by Showers Pass and...

That may very well be. If Al prefers to welcome me by dismissing my content as inappropriate in length, though it is painfully obvious even by the title that I would be discussing a lengthy process, then Al will garner the reply he got.

My Path to Living (Mostly) Without Cars

Sorry you did not care for my post. Welcoming me with a ’shut up’ is an interesting way to go about life. Conveniently, there are many, many ways for you to ignore it, and to ignore me. If your intent was to tell me that, if I intend to share information on this site, I’d better make it...

    Product Improvement:- Feedback to Bosch.

Okay, thanks for that. I ride my bike every day as a car substitute. This is why I am interested in maximizing battery life so that overall costs and maintenance is constrained. A thorough post here on EBR by member @Ravi Kempaiah (see...

    Product Improvement:- Feedback to Bosch.

Yes, I understand that the Bosch charging system for the dual battery setup regulates the charging and their relative charge levels. For instance, the last time I tried to charge the batteries to 80% as a matter of good practice to extend overall battery life, I found that the batteries were...

Known Issues & Problems with Riese & Müller Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

I’ve eyed those screws, too, on the downtube, but wonder if they are for attachments? Or for securing the battery that is slung below? Also: The Abus folding lock mounted as standard does not appear to use the standard-spacing of bosses on most bikes, but a single, large screw smack in the...

My Path to Living (Mostly) Without Cars

“How charming!” Idyllic lifestyles in quaint European towns shuttling bakery-fresh baguettes by bicycle while enjoying low risk of theft, accident, or injury. Yes: How charming it would be. I do not, however, live in a quaint European town. I live in San Francisco which, despite its small size...

Between the two, the Como is the more comfortable. Not the greatest on hills, but not awful. The scooping seat position is something it sounds like you would find comfortable, given your desire to not be hunched over in a ’sporting’ position.

    Product Improvement:- Feedback to Bosch.

Then pass costs on to Apple users who want the Apple-compliant functionality; and pass on the Android functionality to the Android users. This is not hard. It’s called an in-app purchase, precisely as easy as purchasing the Kiox lockout function for $9.99. As to the world’s 7 billion people...

    Product Improvement:- Feedback to Bosch.

Ebike Connect The App is generally well done, but suffers one annoying flaw: It does not recognize Apple’s “Allow Location Awareness While Using” function. Instead, the only choice that works is to ALWAYS allow location. First, that comes off as unnecessarily spy-ish. And second: It drains the...

    Product Improvement:- Feedback to Bosch.

I can understand that removing the two 500 W batteries from the tube will be faster. I was looking to see whether Bosch chargers automatically limit charging to ~80% with a quarterly balancing charge to 100%? Does that occur? Or must it be done manually? Is it recommended to do this manually?
