40 year EE , I still have all my fingers and even I am scared of messing with big Lithium batteries , so I would not consider that, but an official Biktrix 48v battery was tempting. 52v meh! Like putting a bigger water tank to get more shower pressure.

I dialed PAS 5 down to 1200-1300 watts, I found 1600 W (indicated) was a bit much. My range is about the same as the stock Rad rover. I use extra available power from the upgrade sparingly, it’s reassuring to have the “flux capacitor” and not trip the BMS to safely get out of the way sometimes.

You can lower it to 38 volts, but expect some criticism here. I use 38 v but don,t use throttle or PAS 5 below 44 volts. Emergency application only.

If you use PAS 5 or throttle with a Bolton kit the load will cause the voltage to drop immediately by about 5 volts. If you have only 46 volts remaining and cutoff voltage is set by default to 42v it will trip .

You are correct I believe the city has the option of a cheap abus lock. It was free for a while.

On the rear, my 2019 Rover just had 6mm spacers not the spacer bracket that is on the front. With that setup the disc edge is about 5 mm from the caliper. So IMHO large disc rear rotors would not clear, not a big deal since mostly of the braking is required for the front. The Juintech are good...

You need a bike trailer to haul all that, then a second battery because of the loss of range due to the weight of the trailer. And so I goes!:oops:

If your Bike is new, I would think Rad would want you to return the defective battery to them so they can get credit from their supplier. Usually they do not care about cheap broken stuff, but a new $500 battery is a bit different.

Don't give them ideas, Rad could easily lockout the entire setup menu. Those other companies are buying from the same vendors, so same thing could happen. Prior to my Bolton upgrade, on my 2019 Rad Rover lowering the value to a lower speed worked as expected.

In the USA Rad is sold as legally Class 2, max 20 mph. Liability laws are why we can't always have nice things.

Changing the wheel diameter fakes the display into thinking you are going slower than you are. So go smaller and the bike thinks it needs more rotations of the rear wheel for a given speed. Unfortunately Speedo will be off for same reason.

Not sure what bike you are getting but many of the cheaper ones do not have a comfy seat. I have a cloud 9, spring seat-post and bike shorts.

The cable entry is from the side , not thru the center axle. How you install that is anyone’s guess.

Definitely seems like a bad battery. IMHO even if you ride only a couple of miles both red lights will come on when u plug in even my 2nd aftermarket charger at work with fan does that. It takes longer to charge for the last few %. I regularly do 30-40 miles PAS 1-3 per charge on my Rover and...

They don’t wear evenly , I’m cheap so saved the thicker one. After the next replacement will have a free extra set!

The four pin connector is probably RS232 or CAN just used in manufacturing to program the box. Wiring is thin so just enough to power comms. At some point maybe someone will try an old US display on a new controller and vice versa to see what is blocking the max speed setting. Canadian Rad...
