TranzX (throttle type) drives vs gear obsession (Bosch/others)..what am I missing?

I am with ya, Dash on all counts! Need to ride a Bosch system to see how it performs. If it is anything like my Bosch dishwasher at home, it looks nice, is expensive and complicated, and is not very powerful at all - LOL!! That throttle assist is a great feature on the Izip Peak, thanks for...

Question about PEAK brake levers, wired for brake cutoff circuit?

Yes there is! It is operated via magnets in the lever assembly. Hope this helps! Rusty

    IZIP E3 Peak - 1st Impressions

Great points! Allow me bolster some of them! 1. A larger front chainring or smaller rear gear - yes! The Peak is certainly capable of handling one - it would be a great option or retrofit. I would sure like to know if such could be fitted as well! 2. If you hold down the + button for...

TranzX (throttle type) drives vs gear obsession (Bosch/others)..what am I missing?

H Hi Dash! On the Peak, the "throttle" after 6 mph is merely a level assist 4 switch because as you know, you still have to pedal. I have noted from riding my Peak, just how useful this throttle assist can be: imagine a steep downhill grade, with a boulder strewn corner on the bottom, then a...

So happy for both of you!!! I am also glad to have another Peak "brother". I feel kind of alone out there sometimes amongst the Dash and BH brethren :-) If I can can help in any way, let me know. :-) Rusty

I think that would be doable. My range was under probably about the worst conditions - I go to PAS4 and just wail on it.....:-)

    2015 line-up from BH E Motion

Wow! The 2015 ebikes are entering a new phase of style! Makes my Peak look like a 65 Mustang compared to the 67 models. I consider it one of the first solid sport pedelecs along with the Dash, the Turbo, Stromer, Jumper, and others. Maybe they will be bicycle classics someday!

Blown motor on E3 Dash with 29 miles on it

I had a similar experience with a hold- up on the delivery of my new Peak. Just mentioned it in passing to Larry, and shazam! I got a call from REI. I think that Larry is magic! :-):-)

Do you think electric bikes should be considered mountain bikes?

I am totally with you. I don't "get" the naysayers. I understand the enthusiasm about bicycles - all bicycles. I share it! But an ebike is just an improved bicycle, with exciting new technology. It gives more capability and more options. I can ride sweat free to work (in one half the...

Update for you: ran out of juice at 14 miles, PAS4. Hard commute, lots of hills, and gunning it all the way. This might be a good lower end average to consider. I'll repeat it again tomorrow to confirm. Hope this helps, and am anxious to hear your impressions! I noticed that when I dropped...

I really like the "fastback" look created by curving the top tube and seat stays. Hydroforming perhaps?

I understand that Transx is a Taiwanese company but has assembly facilities in China. Ravi has a great post on this somewhere. :-)

Thanks for the info - indeed, it looks very similar. I've been to Seattle Electric. Looks like they are expanding their line up. Good! Wonder if it is also a high- speed pedelec! I looked at the D- back website, nothing there, is this a prototype?

Compare-O-Meter? Disk brakes, Throttle, Comfort, Gates, sub $3,500.00

I don't want to sound like a Peak protagonist, but have you looked at the IZIP Peak? It meets all your criteria sans the belt drive, and it has a front fork. It even undercuts your price goal by about $600 or more if you shop carefully! Oops, sorry, the integrated lights are an option on the...

OK, for some who have asked about range, I have just finished a 17 mile ride mostly in PAS4 and have 20% battery left. Here are the ride details: 1st 8.5 miles on pavement, 7 to 12 percent grade for about 1.5 miles, hammering the thing, seeing 33 mph on the flats, down to 14-15 mph on the...

Do you think electric bikes should be considered mountain bikes?

I was on (their ?) website a few weeks ago and found this a hotly debated topic. Thankfully, there were many supporters... What made me wince is their depiction of a "typical" e-bike rider as someone on a stealth bomber, missing a tooth or two, riding one handed chewing on a candy or tobacco...

Just did my morning commute. About 5 miles along the Interstate yes! at 28-35 mph in PAS 4, then up a 7-8% grade for about 3/4 mile in PAS 4, then varied speeds and uphill grades in urban areas in PAS 3 and 4, between 12-29 mph depending on conditions for about 4 miles, then another 3/4 mile...

Hey Joe, also wanted to say that when we rode the Peak and the Dash together, that the battery gauge was consistently showing about 20% more capacity at any given time on the Peak, if that helps at all. I will try mine out later at a constant PAS 1 setting ( if I can find a flat road nearby) at...

Hi Larry, this is Steve, aka Rusty. We spoke on the phone once and you helped REI hustle up my order! Thank you ! It's a great bike, and I get the sense that it was carefully engineered to work well. I appreciate it every time I ride it. Thanks also for helping out this forum! Rusty

Hello Joe, I tend not to drain the battery completely, so I can't give you the absolute maximum range, but I can say that the led lights on the battery appear to correspond very accurately with the range gauge on the dash read- out, and that they also correspond very closely with what the...
