E-Bikes not welcome @ CicLAvia Hollywood August 18?

I guess we are not welcome here: Can I use an electric bike, scooter, skateboard, or hoverboard on the route? CicLAvia is open to all forms of people-powered, non-motorized transport. This does not include e-bikes, powered scooters or skateboards, or hoverboards. If you require a pedal assist...

    What is your security set-up?

That's a good question. Has anyone ever complained that their bike was stolen via a picked lock? I would say not ever.

    What is your security set-up?

He does a tremendous service for consumers. He cuts thru all the marketing crap and embarrasses the manufacturers, all with an eye to getting us better locks for less money.

    What is your security set-up?

First I would err on the side of caution and initially do the full lock up wherever you go. Over time you may see that just a modest lockup will suffice in most situations. it depends a whole lot on where you are locking up your bike: @Bank. Cameras all over. And no crooks loitering around...

    What is your security set-up?

I am pretty much only a casual rider so my needs are much different from most. Home set up: Massive Abus Granit 37/80 padlock ($92) and Abus Granit chain ($36) bolted to heavy toolboxes in my garage. On the road: If I stop for lunch, I never leave the bike out of sight. I engage the cafe lock...

How Do I Clean My NEW EBIKE?

No motor or battery or bearings like any water. So resist the urge to just hose it down other than the tires and fenders.

    Bike Seat

The only solution seems to be to try a lot of different seats until you find the best combo possible. To be be butt sore free after 40-50-60 miles in the saddle is a lofty goal but may be unrealistic. So the key would be to try a lot of different saddles without breaking the bank. My bike...

Is it important to you that your ebike doesn’t look like an ebike?

That brings up one of my irrational fears I had before getting an ebike: Would I let a complete stranger try out my ebike? Scenario: Officer: "So what happened here?". Me: "Some guy just stole my ebike!". Officer: "Was it locked?". Me: "Well, no. He asked to try it out and I let him...

Step over or step through for men?

So nothing has changed. In man sports, the strongest and fastest wins all. In woman sports, the transgender girl wins all too. <ducking>

Step over or step through for men?

While we are on the subject of manly looks, a narrow, rock hard leather racing saddle "looks" better than a wide padded comfort seat but the butt had final say.

Step over or step through for men?

I am 67 and bought a step thru. I still habitually swing my leg but I can see the day that the step-thru will come in handy. Keep in mind these bikes are heavy, mine is about 60#. If you are going to be carrying stuff a lot on the rear rack, then step thru makes a lot of sense.

Is it important to you that your ebike doesn’t look like an ebike?

Rest assured that the looks of ebikes will constantly change. It's right there in the first chapter of the Detroit playbook.
