    OHM bike thoughts & impressions

I'm right around the purple/black spring range at my 155 lbs, so it was recommended that I go to the stiffer black springs. I'm still fine tuning the tension, but I'm finding the suspension does wonders for the fast jittery bumps I often encounter on my commute. Patchy paved areas that used to...

    OHM bike thoughts & impressions

Thanks for your feedback Ken. I've decided to test out the BF as well, and this morning's commute didn't fail to impress. Will try it for a few more rides but I can't see how I can go back now! Cheers.

    OHM bike thoughts & impressions

Hi Ken, awesome to hear that the bike is still going strong after so many km's! I'm close to buying a seat suspension post as well, to help make my daily commute more comfortable and kinder to my back. I'm currently testing out the Suntour NCX and am wondering if you had a chance to compare...

    OHM bike thoughts & impressions

I've had a chance to try out "Mountain mode" on some hill climbs on the commute home, as well as some other hills in my neigbourhood to push it a bit. I first tried the mode on a somewhat gradual but long hill climb (1.5km with ~85m/280' elevation gain). After activating it on the flats at the...

Bikes using the new semi-integrated battery in the US?

OHM cycles plans on showing the new 2017 models with semi-integrated downtube batteries this fall at Interbike. Here is a little more info: (Link Removed - No Longer Exists)

    OHM bike thoughts & impressions

Funny, I totally forgot about the "mountain mode" function... I'll have to try that out on the long hill climb close to home next week to see how it compares!

    OHM bike thoughts & impressions

Yeah they look pretty sweet with the new semi-integrated downtube battery. Will also come with wireless Bluetooth connectivity and a new colour display from Bionx. I just couldn't wait that long! Here is some more info: (Link Removed - No Longer Exists)

    OHM bike thoughts & impressions

Meet the reincarnation of KITT (for those that watched TV in the 80's ;)) I've had my OHM bike for a few weeks now, and thought it would be good to share some of my thoughts/impressions after logging almost 500km on it so far. Obviously my riding style and preferences won't be the same as...

Looking for a solid bike for a long commute

The OHM bikes can definitely be modified to be more of a trail setup. Have you checked out their line of "off road bikes"? The XS750 has the same frame, motor, and fork as the XU700, but runs burlier tires and more aggressive style with the stem and bars and upgraded drivetrain. That being said...

    ebike for a hilly commute

I finally tried out OHM's xu700 recently and I was very impressed with the whole setup. I'm just working through the details now and should be out riding it soon! Keep an eye on the OHM forum as I plan to post some thoughts after riding it for a bit

Looking for a solid bike for a long commute

I do like the look of the semi-integrated battery on the wheeler (though I find the OHM to still be quite streamlined too)- though not a bike I see around my neck of the woods. I tested out an OHM xu700 the other day and was also impressed with the D500- very smooth and powerful. I agree that...

Definitely something to consider... Nice to see some solid Canadian companies in the game!

Looking for a solid bike for a long commute

Thanks for the suggestion! Looks like some pretty solid kits. It would be fun to have a DIY project like this, but my bike isn't really the right setup... It's an old steel triathlon frame (light, but quite solid)- but I'm finding the geometry is a little too aggressive for my long daily...

Looking for a solid bike for a long commute

Cheers, thanks for your observations. For me, time management will also be important since I start work pretty early and really don't want to have to wake any earlier than I already do. I usually ride with rechargeable lights for those early mornings (especially after October! It is nice to live...

    ebike for a hilly commute

Good point, I don't like the idea about running out of juice for my rides and/or having to replace it earlier than I need to. Also good to know about that 80/20 rule... The Bosch system on most bikes I was considering were also 400wh I believe. The Bionx battery with the D-series motor comes...

    ebike for a hilly commute

Yeah, I hear ya on that one. It is tempting to go for the conversion kit to save some $, but I know I would get more of a solid long term ride out of a complete bike. Plus my current bike wouldn't really be a good fit for a kit either. Cheers!

Looking for a solid bike for a long commute

Hi, thanks for your reply. My 40km round-trip commute is definitely challenging and I'm hoping the right ebike will allow me to ride to work at least 80% of the time. Though I consider myself to be in relatively decent shape, the trip is quite challenging (due in part to having to work outside...
