Twenty most discussed EBR Forum brands

I am a little surprised that Stromer comes in the top four, either way you count. Nothing against their bikes, just didn't know there was that much interest. The rest come as no surprise.

    Bike To Bike Communication

My wife and I both have ham radio licenses. We have small, lightweight, inexpensive handy talkies with the kind of speaker-mic like you see clipped to a cop's shoulder. The range is easily a mile or more, just going from one radio to the other (simplex operation.) I talked to a friend the other...

    CrossCurrent Water Bottle Bosses

They're more or less ornamental in my experience.

How much did you ride this week?

We're looking more at time than miles. We get out for 30-60 minutes per day.

Where Is It Legal To Ride Under Covid-19 Restrictions

Here in NC, outdoor exercise is permitted so long as the 6 foot distance from others is observed. I thought it might be the same in PA, so I looked up the actual text of Gov. Wolf's order. It says "Individuals are permitted to engage in outdoor activities; however, gatherings of individuals...

    Torque sensor performance

The cruise control is essentially no different than your throttle, as far as the controller and motor are concerned. A throttle that you don't have to keep your thumb on. Being in cadence mode wouldn't change it. It doesn't change how the thumb throttle works either.

Have you seen Tora's latest video?

I read an article today by an American woman who is a university professor in China. She had been out of the country for a while, so on her return she had to do a 14 day quarantine in her apartment. She'd order what she needed online and every 3 days one of the local cadres would deliver it to...

Have you seen Tora's latest video?

Tora is off to China to oversee manufacture and shipping again -- but has to do a 14-day quarantine. This video is an interesting view of how the coronavirus is affecting travel and so forth.

    Torque sensor performance

I use the cruise control from time to time. Occasionally it's nice to just roll along, looking at the passing scenery, without dealing with gears or PAS levels.

    Panniers for Crosscurrent X

Not panniers, but these work great for me: Wald Folding Baskets. You can use the enclosed hardware, or zip ties, or a combination of both as I did, to fasten them to the rack. Out of the way when you don't need them, plenty of capacity when you do (I can fit a canvas tote for grocery shopping in...

    Torque sensor performance

Pretty much says what I was going to say, except I've got around 5500 kilometers.

    Got Juiced? RipCurrent S Log

"He" thinks you have to work pretty hard to believe that the use of fantasy in advertising constitutes a warranty. Some call it insulting, some call it observation.

    Got Juiced? RipCurrent S Log

Timpo and Linklemming, y'all are justifiying your own gullibility and blaming Juiced because you can't tell advertising from design. I get it. It's fun to blame other people for my shortcomings! I just try not to display my foolishness so publicly.

    Got Juiced? RipCurrent S Log

Timpo and Uuzd4s, y'all sure have a different idea of what mountain biking/off-roading is than I do, if that's what that video looks like to you. What it looks like to me is pretty pictures that create an image of a fun bike that is not a road bike. There are no rocks, tree roots, twisty...

    Got Juiced? RipCurrent S Log

I genuinely sympathize with the problems you've had. I've got to say this, though: nowhere do they claim that the RipCurrent is an off-road bike. There are reasons to like fat tires that have nothing to do with rugged terrain. Appearance is one; comfort is another; and somewhat better...

    ParDo's CCX log

I switched out the seat on my CCS (same ergos as the CCX) for a more comfortable Cloud 9; and I bought a set of spacers to raise the handle bar for a more upright posture. Neither of those were expensive and I'm happy with both.

    CCX or HyperFat 1100 ??

They're still in the catalog. They just don't make them very often and they sell out right away. You have to be Johnny-on-the-spot to get one.

    Sojourn7ers RipCurrent S Log

IIRC, the only difference between S mode and R mode is that S stops giving any assistance at around 28 mph (for legal reasons) and R doesn't. It's the same level of boost.

    CCX vs S2?

Bigger battery = good. This is the cheapest way to get it. I paid extra for what was then the whopping 17.4 Ah, 48 V battery and have never regretted it. I'd love to have the 19.2 Ah, 52 V battery. Greater range and better performance. If I were in the market for a CrossCurrent today, I'd go...

    Juiced model refresh timing/rate

I love my CCS. I've got over 3500 miles on it. Replaced the Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires about 500 miles ago -- can't complain about how long they lasted! Really, I've had no problems at all. Occasional chain drop, more of a nuisance than a problem -- hop off, put it back on, 2 or 3 minutes...
