    High wattage ebikes

What brand is your friend's bike (or is it home-made?)? How much does your friend weigh? I also have about an 18% grade to get home. I was hoping to get something with enough oompf that I don't have to worry about it overheating, etc. I don't need fast, just strong!

    High wattage ebikes

The plot thickens... So I go to the MVA, and it will cost $25 for registration. Then I call my insurance company to get a quote. They will have to insure under a motorcycle policy, and need a make/model/vin #. To my knowledge, e-bikes aren't even equipped with vin #s. I could get a vin #...

    High wattage ebikes

Yep, just looked up MD law, and it is indeed 500w or less to be considered a bicycle. 501w-1125w is a moped. Mopeds require license, registration, and insurance, and cannot go over 30mph. Looks like I need 2 bikes....one moped for mountain streets, and one 250w for bike paths. Just for fun...

Q: Has owning an e-bike changed your car driving habits?

Well, I'm still in the shopping phase, so can't answer the question.. but did want to say that you may be killing your car by not driving it. Regular driving keeps the tires round, engine oily, etc. Not sure what the minimum miles driven should be...

    High wattage ebikes

Just wanted to add...I don't own a 1500w bike, I just finished using a bike calculator, and it said that is what I would need for my hills.... eye opening to be sure...

    High wattage ebikes

This is really the question, isn't it? Unfortunately I can't answer it because the State and local laws are all different. For example, all ebikes appear to be illegal in NYC, despite the Federal classification. In California, they permit speed pedelecs in some areas but not others. I...

    Brand new or old stock?

Hey, did you find the serial # /year? I stumbled in here, in time to see a poor dude, stumbling around in an empty box, making inquiries to the walls... and a little helpful voice finally answered back. The poor dude, in the depths of his madness, could not determine from whence the voice...

Which E-bike has the easiest flat-tire change?

Thank you... wasn't thinking about mid drives, and you are absolutely correct. Anyone know of any easy-change hub motors?

Will any Specialized dealer honor the warranty?

Your local shop probably would work on the bike, but you would be expected to pay..at least for labor, and possibly parts...even for warranty work. It would be similar to a preowned bike purchase... would the warranty follow the bike? The only way to find out for sure is talk to the shop.

Which E-bike has the easiest flat-tire change?

Ok, so everyone talks about speed and distance, bottle bosses, and hills.. I wanna know which bike isnt gonna make me cry when I get a flat when it is dark, raining, and I'm late for my own wedding....

    eBike for the Big Man?

What grench said is what I was thinking. When you hit a pothole, it throws your body up, then your body comes down with a thump. The spokes have to deal with stress coming from 2 directions. With the seatpost shock absorber, it buffers the bike from you, as well as vice versa.

    A Maxon Bikedrive

Part Optibike, part Black Sheep, all fat

Holy smokes! That is one cool lookin bike! Are the fat tires safer or better for potholes/rough streets? Slippery streets? Only good for off-road? I guess I dont really understand the benefits/drawbacks of fatties....
