    Rude remarks by non-ebikers

Had a fun encounter with a couple on a tandem this morning. We were stopped at a light when the husband (captain0 jokingly said "Hey, you are cheating" and I don't know where this came from but I replied "No, my stoker is just way smaller than yours". We all cracked up and almost missed our...

Bosch CX Performance vs Performance Speed

There was no Brose bike available near me to test but I did try out a Giant Quick E and a different Haibike with Yamaha drives. Yamahe felt much more like a "regular" road bike and had significantly less pronounced pickup from zero than Bosch. I would have taken that too for my purpose but found...

Bosch CX Performance vs Performance Speed

I test rode a bunch of different bikes and can confirm that the CX has the better low end "umph". And when you add a chip it becomes perfectly usable for higher speeds too. I put in the PearTune MSO and swapped the front sprocket to a 20t and now can easily cruise at 22-25mph and when I put the...

How do you primarily use your ebike?

Fortunate enough to live in Southern California, so no ice and snow ever. I plan to ride most days, even when it rains. Or do a mixed commute of train and bike. Even with my conventional bikes I usually got over 5000 miles every year.

How do you primarily use your ebike?

I use my ebike almost exclusively for commuting. About 35 miles/day roundtrip, just over 3800 miles since I started riding in February. My ride takes me on surface streets in well marked bike lanes almost the entire way. Some city/suburban areas and long stretches of nature. I have a brief...

Different setting after firmware update. Sport vs. eMTB.

I can tell you for certain that it is possible to set it back to Sport instead of eMTB. I saw them do it on my bike. You can not downgrade the software version I believe.

Photos of your phone holders and drink holders

Here's what I use on my Haibike XDuro Trekking RX. The water bottle mount is by SKS, called Anywhere bike mounts. Basically velcro straps with a threaded insert that you can place wherever you want to add a standard water bottle cage. Works really well for my purpose and places the water bottle...

    Helmet lights

I have a built in light on my Haibike , supplemented by a handlebar-mounted Cygolite that usually runs in the steady/flash mode, more for being seen than for seeing. All this is sufficient in summer but in wintertime I do add a helmet light. I chose this one...

    Hello from San Diego California

Welcome from North County! I hardly ever make it South of La Jolla but I can confirm that weatherwise it doesn't get much better than our neck of the woods.

    Tell Us About Your Commute.

Nice commute! What software are you using for that summary graph? I use Cyclemeter on my phone but have only figured out to get a text summary. Here’s my August total:

Where to buy SDURO Trekking 4.0 (or should I wait for 2019 models?)

There's always the option to chip it to take care of that issue. Works like a charm.

Can I replace a Bosch chainring/Miranda bashguard with a Haibike chainring?

I went the other way after I wore out my Haibike sprocket, for cost reasons, so I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Haibike sizes are strange, mine too! Help me decide wisely...

Yes, as a first estimate your inseam and torso length dictate the range of frame sizes that might work for you. But even for a given maker, different models will have a different fit even when they nominally are the same size. So nothing beats an actual test ride. What you are describing does...

    Assembly question

Just like Nova Haibike said, it is not all that complicated, especially if the dealer had it pre-assembled and checked before shipping. I am sure there are videos on Youtube to show you how it is done but if you have any doubts, spend the money for Velofix or someone similar. That will be...

Haibike sizes are strange, mine too! Help me decide wisely...

Just to clarify, one of the few things that don't really change with frame size (or at least not much) is the ground clearance = distance from bottom bracket to ground. When you adjust your seatpost to match the distance from saddle to cranks (bottom bracket) that is the only thing that brings...

Haibike sizes are strange, mine too! Help me decide wisely...

I am the same height and also own a Haibike Trekking but I actually went the other way and got a 64cm. In the smaller frame size you will need to raise the seatpost a lot to have a good position for your leg extension. That, in turn, on a small frame will lead to a strong lean forward and more...

Flat pedals to clipless pedals and then back to flat pedals.

I've said it in another thread before, why choose? The Shimano PD-T8000 pedals have SPD clips on one side and a great platform on the other (with adjustable pins). I use them on my commuter bike and usually ride with SPDs because I prefer that but can easily ride in any other shoes whenever I...

    Obsolete

Well, and you can always add a chip to discreetly remove the limitation. The PearTune MSO, for example, can be turned on and off easily and unless you know what to look for no one will ever know. In terms of speed I can reach the same speeds on my road and tri bike but I just have to put a lot...

Vado 3.0: Worn out cassette after 450 miles

As far as I know the different mountain bike 10sp cogs should be compatible. You can't mix road and mountain cogs.

Vado 3.0: Worn out cassette after 450 miles

By the way, you can get the smallest 1-3 cogs individually for many cassettes. I did so for my XT 11spd cassette when the same thing happened.
