    eBike Robberies and security Problems

Some higher-end European ebikes arrive either with an ABUS framelock, or offer as an option with standard OEM mount points. I like that security for them isn't an afterthought. It would be great if all bikes worth stealing arrived with those mount points, like the bottle cage points. It's a...

Will Boomerang V2 Cyclo Trac ever come back? It looked promising.

TBH, I'd gladly Paypal them another $20 to have them 3D print the enclosure in the states and just start shipping.

Will Boomerang V2 Cyclo Trac ever come back? It looked promising.

Yeah, it's a choppy rough ride at the best of times for a lot of startup firms trying to do something novel and reliable, while also juggling to fulfill a long-delayed initial order book. Many exec heads have probably banged against walls in frustrations we can only imagine. Boomerang/WI-MM...

Will Boomerang V2 Cyclo Trac ever come back? It looked promising.

I agree managing initial order book expectations might have been done differently. However, there's still nothing else on the market (that I can see) that can get me over the idea of parking a $2000 bike to a $100 bike post - that is the crux of ebike security. The enclosures are made in Asia...

    Dolphin issue

I'm glad to hear they are still making an effort to get things right and satisfy customers. In today's socially-connected world, chalking up this micro margin erosion - is often way cheaper than getting bad indelible feedback, while also amplifying consumer faith and post-purchase satisfaction...

Radrover Controller & Display Upgrade Kit

I can't really weigh in on RadBikes, but my other bike/model on a KT arrived with a factory settings dialed-back to 85% of max power. I have to suppose this was a commercial decision to "idiot-proof" the rear motor from overheating. I found, when on bike with cargo and froggering a highway, or...

    Dolphin Derailleur Hanger Replacement

@iOsiris mine also arrived moderately bent due to damage/box intrusion during transit. I had emailed Qualisports with a short list of issues, but never received a response sadly on the make/model of hanger part of my list - I think it got lost in the shuffle. The hanger is very soft alloy. A...

    Dolphin issue

Mine arrived bent including the soft alloy rear derailleur hanger. I realigned the alloy hanger myself, and just bot a new rear derailleur. Qualisports was good about compensation for the damaged stuff. Good customer service is cheaper than bad feedback, esp on components that only cost $20.

    Derailleur guard

I ordered one from China in May...still waiting for it to arrive! The one I ordered will need some tooling.

    Controller Modification for more speed?

Yes, @iOsiris, I did indeed. Freewheels and cassettes just attach differently to the hub and cassettes are the more common expectation these days. Same splined Park Tool. Otherwise, fairly straight forward DIY swap out and the 11t offers about a 20% reduction in crank rotation effort at wide...

Using Dahon's valet Truss for the front cargo?

Wow I see, that is really different and weird. I think you're right. You might have to fully (a) deflate or (b) remove rear tire. I've done the latter a few times now and it is a multi-stepper: involves unclipping chain stay zip tie, carefully disconnecting separating motor cable, removing...

Using Dahon's valet Truss for the front cargo?

@cutemint0615 Excellent pioneering work on cross-incorporating the Tern/Kanga components! That adds to the research/customization library for others. Oddly enough, I take my rear rack on and off quite a lot on my Dolphin because I have affixed folding shopping baskets (weight) which I don't...

    Qualisports shipping time question

Sorry to hear about the fulfillment issues. When I ordered mine, they generated a UPS label but it still sat for several days, even though I had paid their premium fee for "next day". They reimbursed that extra charge back to me. I think there might be two warehouses in California, just to...

Will Boomerang V2 Cyclo Trac ever come back? It looked promising.

Another update today that their board design fits the 3D printed enclosure mock-up and "it will take several weeks to make the official molds that will be used in final production but once the molds are done production everything will move quickly. This puts us at a release date of late August."

Seeking experienced forum members advice - EBike selection

The Specialized bikes are aesthetically gorgeous with elegant, smooth lines, hidden frame cables, and high lux/covet factor. Where I live, and my purposes, I'd be anxious about leaving anything that refined (and overtly 25x more expensive than the other bikes), at any cycling rack. If these...

    Qualisports shipping time question

I know the feeling. 6mo+ and I still get excited when I unfold the bike and switch it on. It gets even better when you're flying past bumper to bumper traffic at 25mph in the bike lane, or load it up with a big grocery shop. Which one did you order? Welcome!

    Qualisports shipping time question

@Ritchiec87 I don't think anyone has any strong grasp on shipping times right now during COVID-19, the usual performance assumptions are out the window on almost everything! If inventory is coming from China, there are port delays, trucking unions, and customs backlogs, added on top of usual...

Using Dahon's valet Truss for the front cargo?

I'd hold off til you get your own bike and test it out yourself. The basket (or Dahon adapter) will add a wee bit of asymmetry width on the left side, but shouldn't affect the overall alignment and tracking of the wheels underneath. Only the ungeared front wheel spins backwards and both wheels...
