    Indicator lights on e bike

I seriously considered this solution in 2020 and at the time was looking for a two-stage static amber position light for night time riding with a brighter turn signal. I see they have those versions developed now, but really pricey. The magnetic ones seemed to make more sense for locking up in...

E-BIKE SPEED RESTRICTIONS (AGREE OR DISAGREE )

I'd like to think appropriate speed should be governed by context using grownup discretion. On a pedestrian-bike foot path shared with kids and dogs, everybody mounted on their bikes should be wary of the possibility of, and thoughtful towards, softer moving unmechanised hazards just around the...

    Indicator lights on e bike

If it's of interest, I've been riding with a beta Brooklyness/Beyond Classon smart helmet since mid-2020 and pleased to report I haven't had nearly the number of road user close calls that I'd have ordinarily experienced before it. It offers high visibility with hand gesture-activated turn...

    Serial 1 saddle

I've been riding a C19 and Cambium grips for two years and have found them to be tactile, and precise, like a fine sports car suspension. I like that control when the stakes get higher >20mph in an urban setting. The C67 might offer slightly more flex, while retaining that unweighted thigh...

Long term report: 5000 miles on the Qualisports Volador

This is serious dedication to something other than a car, and I love it. Very inspiring. Also, as a fellow customer, it's encouraging to see how much real world mileage can actually be put on these Qualisports products. 👏

Bike lock for a city that's not very bike friendly

Bike lock manufacturer literature misdirect to the fabled angle grinder attack. Sadly, in most cases, it seems that all that separates open and closed states in name-brand D and padlocks for bad guys is a swivelling "tab"of metal mechanically engaged with a tiny music-box sized pocket key. The...

Bike lock for a city that's not very bike friendly

Cutting, yes. From a rank amateur, 90 seconds, two cans of compressed keyboard air duster $10, one hammer $15. Process can probably be shortened to 2 or 3 strikes from someone who does that for their "living" and isn't filming with their phone with the other hand.

New conversion kit turns mountain bikes into electric snowmobiles

Seems these days like fat tires running low psi would achieve all of this without the weight penalty, or wipeout operational curve. Warm hands sold separately.

Bike lock for a city that's not very bike friendly

Yes, a smaller form factor than the original one, different internal hardware vendor, software, and communication protocols. App gets regular updates, and new "firmware" update a couple weeks ago was pushed to devices remotely. IMO ebikes that cost >$1000 should come with integrated security...

Bike lock for a city that's not very bike friendly

@aaronhamlin, we were among first deliveries and there were some teething issues, as with any startup new tech. We had some standby drain issues. Boomerang delivered us replacement batteries, and it was fairly straight forward to open the enclosure and do the surgery. After that, so far so...

Bike lock for a city that's not very bike friendly

Good low down @aaronhamlin. From my experience, the $15 115dB alarms on Amazon/ebay are loud AF for the money, and can zip under the seat, though not very durable longterm. I had one spectacularly disassemble on a ride - so recommend a zip tie around the middle to keep halves together. The...

    Lectric XP for a child?

@evanwhat forgive my unsolicited back-seat wind-bagging, and take in a well-meaning context from a seasoned dad: unless all the smartest grade 2-3er's in your neighbourhood are riding mechanised transport, I'd consider a more versatile all-around geared analogue kid bike so that your child (and...

Looking for a replacement for cassette on Rad Rover?

Apologies, @ExPatBrit I hadn't realised the 750 Bafang cable was so beefy. I guess that makes sense with the bigger motor. Looks like a $50 problem, or maybe someone on EBR could rent you the one they previously used, now gathering dust in their tool box? 10 minutes for $10? eBay advanced...

    Accessories for your XP

@Bob RN I asked Rad for power draw stats for their Premium Headlight, and sadly, it seems to be a corporate secret they can't share. If we openly speculate, using published stats for Supernova M99, which seems to be a comparable 500 lumen cat-eye type bike headlight, the Supernova draws 16...

Looking for a replacement for cassette on Rad Rover?

@ExPatBrit for replacement freewheels, there are a bunch that should fit from 11 to 34 tooth. The smallest 11 tooth will be your top speed gear (allowing comfortable cruise pedalling 25-28mph). The 28 or 34 is your full-analog hill climbing low gear. If your commute is mostly flat, a 28t...

Looking for a replacement for cassette on Rad Rover?

Lots of threads on this, with some strong user feelings on 11-34t vs 11-28t freewheel replacements. Clip the zip tie, pull apart the rear hub motor power cable at its chainstay junction (it's designed to be easy separation, in case of a flat tire - do not twist, align arrows), undo rear bolts...

Can I put a frame lock on the front wheel (fork) instead?

@Mando Dave I have an ABUS 5750L NR from Germany mounted on front wheel on a folder, and you are correct: with the 100cm cable or chain extender (also comes in shorter 85cm and longer 130cm), I can fold bike in half, loop thru the frame, thru an accompanying bike, and around a fixed object like...

    Accessories for your XP

@Bob RN I don't know. It's more than twice as bright as a regular ebike headlight, and I haven't taken it apart to see how that works. There might be an integrated upscaling inverter inside the housing as it is large enough to accommodate one. I'm just guessing though. If you're really...

    Accessories for your XP

We are impressed with the $50 dollar, pleasing "halo-style" 500 lumen Premium LED headlight from RadRover. We had our first fully-dark night ride with it yesterday. No joke, these are as bright as some car headlights at night, without burning retinas. It uses the existing ebike-standard 2 pin...
