Blown motor on E3 Dash with 29 miles on it

I second this! I think it is awesome that someone from Currie Tech is coming to this forum to help with problems. HumanitiesHaze, I wish you the best of luck. You've had more than your share of problems. You deserve a trouble free Dash.

    What's Your Dream Electric Bike?

My dream e-bike is one that is like a Honda, very dependable and rides for miles and miles without failures.

Adjusting the disk brake pads on a hub motor bike.

This morning I remembered a while back I did a test of ebike rear wheel spin vs regular bike rear wheel spin. When I did the test the Dash wheel stopped after about a 1/2 turn. At the time I thought it was because of the motor drag. However this morning I decided to try the same test again now...

Adjusting the disk brake pads on a hub motor bike.

Awesome tool. I'll have to make me a tool like that. My rear brake was so out of whack that it needed the caliper frame moved, not just the pads. Plus, I wanted to remove the brake so I could get a close look and understand exactly how the brake works. Now that it's set up correctly, I think I...

Adjusting the disk brake pads on a hub motor bike.

Well, that back screw is pretty tough to get to and my brake was way out of adjustment, so I tried a different approach. Here's what I ended up doing. Measured the rotor thickness to be 1.85mm Removed the caliper using the two mounting screws in the slotted caliper holes. Since the minimum...

Adjusting the disk brake pads on a hub motor bike.

I certainly don't see an alternative, but this is the first bike I've had that had disc brakes and I'm no expert. However, after looking at my rear brake, I see that it is so out of adjustment that the rotor gets really bent when the brakes are applied. The outboard brake pad has no clearance...

    Peak and Dash Review

Have you watched Court's videos on the Dash and the Oasis? http://electricbikereview.com/prodecotech/oasis/ http://electricbikereview.com/izip/e3-dash/ Prodeco Oasis was one of the bikes I looked at before I bought the Dash. I went with the Dash because I wanted pedal assist. Even though the...

According to the (Link Removed - No Longer Exists) the Path+ and Dash share the same motor.

    eProdigy Banff

When I saw the picture of the Banff with that wicker basket on the back, it immediately reminded me of the bicycle in the Wizard of Oz. All you need now is a little dog Toto to put in the back.

Electrical Wiring Information for Adding Lights to IZIP Dash

Good pictures. Shouldn't be to hard to put together a simple wiring diagram showing where each cable goes. As far as the function of individual wires, that's a Currie secret and we would have to get from them.

    E3 Dash seatpost diameter?

31.6 mm. I installed a new suspension seat post, so I had to know for sure. Got out my calipers and measured it.

Looking to 2015 (new ebikes to be released this summer/fall)

I was thinking about that the other day. We don't even have a simple wiring diagram that shows where the electrical cables go. On my motorcycles I know where every wire goes and it's function. Even with my Volvo I know most of the wiring. I guess one of these days I'll have to pull out all those...

Looking to 2015 (new ebikes to be released this summer/fall)

I noticed that the TranzX hub motor used on the Izip Dash is not included in that "most reputable and most solid hub motors available" list.

    Izip E3 path plus trouble

I agree, if one runs out of battery power, the bike can be fairly easily pedaled home. However, some of these motor failures with loose magnets could totally disable a bike. If a motor locks up, there's no pedaling home. In fact, you probably can't even walk your bike home. That's what scares me!

    DASH....Yikes the Tool Wrench?

You may have an intermittent connector problem. I seem to remember that Brian(J) had a problem and reseating the connectors at the LCD display solved it. Also, on my bike I've been spraying the connectors with CRC QD Electronic Cleaner with cleans and lubricates connectors.

    DASH....Yikes the Tool Wrench?

Was there any error code number displayed with the wrench? If so, see what the error code number means. (Link Removed - No Longer Exists) Also, it would be a good idea to run the onboard diagnostics test. (Link Removed - No Longer Exists)

    In the beginning, and desire...

What a great idea! And it's not that expensive ($299) for what you get. However, if I understood the installation instructions correctly, I don't think you could use this on a IZIP Dash. The Dash has torque and cadence sensors in the bottom bracket and I understand this unit uses it's own...

    Schwalbe customer service stinks

I'm glad you didn't have trouble with the rear wheel. For me, I was surprised at all the trouble I had with the rear wheel when I had my flat. It was late in the day and I was already tired when I had my flat 10 miles from home. And I was ill prepared, so it didn't go well. Trying to deal with...

    Schwalbe customer service stinks

The Marathon Plus flat-less does not mean flat free. It means less flats. People still get flats with the Marathon Plus tires, but less often. I like to carry a spare tube with me. It is so much easier to put a new tube in rather than repair a tube on the road. If the tube has just one hole...
