E-bike for Daughter - 28 mph with hills and low step

Seriously? I wasn’t asking for advice on whether she should be making this ride to school. Had I been doing so, I would have provided more information about the route and such. And sound advice should be based on an understanding of the situation and only offered when asked for. Sound advice...

E-bike for Daughter - 28 mph with hills and low step

Wow, you guys are full of opinions based on very little information. Was it your intent to question my judgement as a parent? Because that's exactly what you just did. It's this kind of comment that makes folks not want to ask for help with anything. If you aren't answering the original...

E-bike for Daughter - 28 mph with hills and low step

Parent to parent: You've made a lot of assumptions about the commute, my daughter's abilities, and my judgement. I wasn't asking for an opinion on whether we should allow her to do this or not.

UPS ebike pilot to assist urban delivery

The packages will be in an enclosed cargo box so someone would have to break it open or steal the whole bike. Unfortunately, I am very familiar with theft of UPS packages as I worked closely with the security group when I was a UPS employee. It is a problem for all carriers including fedex and...

UPS ebike pilot to assist urban delivery

I believe ebikemom has it right as I saw a news story where they would park a package car and the ebikes would distribute from them. The cargo box is enclosed and waterproof and it appears that the driver has a windshield so rain shouldn't be a problem. Also, the e-bikes are being made in...

Why so negative? I enjoyed his observation and appreciate him sharing it. Be a better person and simply not comment.

Sleek eBikes in Tarrytown NY (www.sleekrides.com) quickly replaced my upper battery mount when it broke and even found a broken spoke that I hadn't noticed. They replaced that as well as quickly as they could (parts were hard to get from Magnum). I recommend them to anyone interested in an...

    AAA

I agree that a newly paved road is nice. However, I’d rather support a company that pushes for more bike lanes and bike paths. I’m lucky that I have a bike path that takes me 35 miles to work. I wouldn’t be able to make the commute without it. Do as you wish though. I’ve used AAA on the past.

E-bike for Daughter - 28 mph with hills and low step

My daughter is working to get a bike rack installed. Currently, there are four kids who ride bikes to school and then have to lock them to a fence. She'll definitely need a good lock and insurance, which I feel is well worth it. And, thanks for the suggestions. The Gazelle Cityzen is a good...

I like the Evelo and hadn't considered them yet. I do like the simplicity of it. Thanks!

E-bike for Daughter - 28 mph with hills and low step

Yes, we need to go test ride some bikes. The local e-bike shop scene is great in my area and even better if we head an hour south to NYC so we should be able to test ride nearly anything she shows an interest in.

E-bike for Daughter - 28 mph with hills and low step

That's correct. There are no bike lanes so she'd be on a relatively quiet back road for the first two miles, which is fine. However, the last 3 miles is on a somewhat busy 45 mph two lane road. I'd like her to be as fast as possible on this portion. With only 10 miles roundtrip, she can use...

Long Commute - 70 miles round trip for eNoob

I have a 35 mile one way commute as well with quite the elevation gain, especially on the way home (~1800' on the way home). I purchased a Magnum Metro+ and it makes the commute on PAS 4 averaging about 20 mph while charging from 80% to 20%. I am pedaling fairly hard and it's a 1.75 hour...

E-bike for Daughter - 28 mph with hills and low step

The 500 series looks like it uses the same Reention Dorado case as my Magnum so I'm guessing we could swap batteries if needed. It's a nice looking bike. Any place near NYC that she could test ride one?

E-bike for Daughter - 28 mph with hills and low step

My Metro+ will hold 18 mph or so up most hills around here but, yes, the styling isn't so agreeable with her!

E-bike for Daughter - 28 mph with hills and low step

My daughter is interested in getting an e-bike instead of a car. Woohoo! However, she has some interesting requirements. Her commute to high school is only 5 miles but quite hilly and, for safety sake, I'd like her to be able to maintain at least 20 mph up the hills and 28 mph on the flats...

I'm a member of Better World Club (BWC). They still offer the same towing and such. They also offer 24/7 roadside assistance for bicycles. AND there's this bad thing about AAA: BWC is NOT part of the Highway Lobby -- the conglomerate of automobile, oil, tire, and cement interests that...

Woman Pedals a Bike at 184 MPH ! Absolutely insane.... gotta watch the video

Wow, there's some A+ trolling with overtones of jealousy and sexism going on in this thread. What she did was commendable. It is a world record, after all. Perhaps if one thinks it is easy, one should go and beat the world record.
