    Just ordered a Gocycle G4

20 x 2.25” tires. A great feature… you don’t have to take the wheels off the bike to change a tire on the left side.

    Just ordered a Gocycle G4

Over the winter, I have purchased a new “tugboat” for cruising, to replace my sailboat which is no longer a stable enough platform for my wife. I want to be able to take an ebike along for when we visit Lake Huron ports, and my Trek is just too big to accomodate onboard. After doing some...

    Thoughts Of An Experienced E-Biker

Great summary Stefan, I just read it now. I still have only one e-bike, a commuter model that I have modified to include a lot of trail riding, and it has served me very well for the range of riding I do in a rural/small town urban/forested area. Over 12,000 km now. I have often considered...

Just turned over 12,000 km yesterday. Will likely be moving this fall, so will have new trails to explore further north on the Lake Huron shoreline.

It’s greening up nicely for spring here, and I’m getting out more for daily rides usually in the 30 km range. Turned over 11,000 km this past week. Also got my sailboat launched so will be spending some time on that. It’s a good base for bike riding 100 km up the shore of Lake Huron from where I...

New rider confession: my butt hurts

I am 67, short and overweight (but improving by 18 lb since I started biking). My Trek Verve +3 came with a pretty good Bontrager saddle and I added a Redshift suspension post (lots of info on this forum about the benefits/disadvantages of various suspension seatposts). My riding position is...

Finally able to get back out today, a good thaw is underway. Still have my spiked tires on, but the ice is rapidly turning to slush. A brief respite though, more freezing temperatures on the way. Got 27 km done, hopefully I won’t feel it too badly tomorrow.

    Bosch 500 w battery life

Thanks for the input mates. I set up a bike service bench in the garage in the summer and began charging there. The weather is turning colder now. I will resume charging the battery in the house.

    Bosch 500 w battery life

Thanks, the battery is from July 2020. I am charging it in my garage now in temperatures around freezing, above or below but likely to get colder. Used to charge it in the house at room temperature. And yes, I am comparing summer to winter rides.

    Bosch 500 w battery life

I am at 10,350km on my Trek Verve +3 and starting to consider how much reliable battery life I have left on my 500w original battery. My Purion display used to show something in the range of 65km on a freshly charged battery, but now it is trending down toward 50km At Turbo power. I need a...

Full Suspension Vs. Seatpost Suspension...which is best?

I have a fairly heavy hard tail Trek, that is ridden off-road more than on. Gravel and grassy trails, some of them pretty bumpy. I have added both Redshift stem and seatpost and changed my saddle to Brooks B17, which is quite a bit more comfortable than the stock Bontrager that I already...

MTB 'Type' Riders (But Not Really Into Hard Riding) Poll

That was a pretty legendary bike I think for downhill on the Canadian west coast. The FS bike I have is a Norco XCS 1 from about the same era, and it’s still in beautiful shape. I used to ride it in a nearby Ontario Provincial Park with a bunch of mates when it was new. I have now changed the...
