Commute bike 12 miles Marin to SF, hilly

These side-by-side comparisons, from an experienced rider, are rare here. Thanks for sharing them, Alex.

Commute bike 12 miles Marin to SF, hilly

@Alex Smith , you're getting lots of good - if varying - advice so let me toss in an entertaining addition. You've mentioned 'budget', also 'hills', you desire an increase in commute time (aka: speed) if possible, you are going to be creating a significant amount of kinetic energy (180# @...

Daymak Headquarters and Ebike Universe Tour with Founder Aldo Baiocchi in Toronto Canada

At one point in the tour Court comments that it feels like he's in that govt. warehouse where they boxed up and stored the Lost Ark. That was my impression, too. As George mentioned: LOTS of square footage and LOTS of inventory.

Daymak EC1Carbon Fiber Electric Bike Video

There is some commentary about the CF Daymak bike in Court's tour of Daymak with the owner, Aldo. An aside: At one point in the tour, while Court's scanning just one section of one floor of the Daymak facility, he likens it to looking for the Lost Ark after it had been boxed up and socked away...

I agree with Jim123. Excellent video on the past and current SRAM brakes.

What online Stromer dealer do you recommend ?

I too am currently in Jacksonville FL and yes, it's discouraging for a city of 900,000 people and lots of flat land, limited public transport and 1990's era traffic engineering to lack a significant ebike presence. I did visit the 'Performance Bike of Jax' franchise store since they advertise...

    Cross Current

@youth what differences do you now see in battery performance, between those winter & summer weather extremes? And which Lithium chemistry does your current bike's battery have?

The link Fitz provides - with his roadside assistance story - actually contains a lot more helpful info for those of us shopping for bike insurance. Worth reading!

    Freway VR-01 Ebike Review!

Piggy-backing on Court's mention that Newegg and Amazon now carry this bike, be sure to read the buyer reviews there as well as Court's. Court's a savvy ebike consumer and so understands the compromise inherent e.g. in brakes not including motor inhibitors. The Newegg/Amazon buyers are seeing...

ShareRoller V3, expansively described & illustrated here...

Here's an update as of today about a second round of the Shareroller Indiegogo campaign: "Dear ShareRoller follower: As you likely know, we completed our successful Indiegogo campaign on Dec 4, 2015, raising over $73,000 to finance production of the new ShareRoller V3. Production is now...

    New Buyer Questions

Interesting. I happened to just finish reading a lengthy discussion on risk mitigation, in that case addressing the relative risks of skydiving, airplane flying and motorcycle riding. One bottom line: There are things you can do to reduce risk but there also remain risks inherent in the...

Simple conversion kit with a small battery (1 hour use time) request

"Im looking to convert an old racer with 700c wheels..." A wide span of suggestions, including ones that would give you lots of speed, but based on not much info about your bike. For 20-30 mph speeds, I don't think you'd want tired rim brakes. Are road conditions at those speeds suitable for...

    e-RAD battery maintenance

@Chris Head, you weren't mistaken...you're just climbing the learning curve like the rest of us. Even tho' I'm pretty new to this fledgling USA industry, it's clear to me it is very dynamic. Today's certain knowledge is going to be tomorrow's swiss cheese.

    e-RAD battery maintenance

@Chris Head you are so right about the 'shop wander' and interview between Court & Justin. Watched it a few weeks ago with great pleasure. Court labeled it a 'deep dive' and there was some of that, but the creativity that flows from Justin is as much a marvel as his technical knowledge. To...

    e-RAD battery maintenance

@Link Removed, you may have missed Greg's question (just above) since it wasn't @ddressed to you. I'd be interested in your A to his Q as well. BTW letting Court run around in your shop like a school kid on recess produced one of the most informative video reviews I've found here...and boy...

    Hub or Mid-Drive?

Rick, thanks for commenting. And from a spot adjacent to the Bay of Fundy up in Nova Scotia, too! That tells me your bike is seeing some challenging conditions. I had previously watched Court's reviews of the Stunners; it was helpful to hear from an owner who's made serious use of them, too...

Rear Cargo Rack Battery vs. Down-tube Battery?

Michelll, I'd start by physically (not electrically) jury rigging the spare battery in each place (under top tube and on the rear rack) temporarily, then judge for yourself how the bike's handling is affected with each position.
