    Too strong bike lights

Lights that conform to the German StVZO standard have a cutoff. Most dynamo headlights are StVZO-compliant, but some battery-powered models exist. Kryptonite's new line of headlights are rebadged AXA models, and have the cutoff beam profile

Turbo Levo front chain device / chain coming off

That's odd. Your bike has a SRAM rear derailleur, correct? Does the problem occur only when the chain is on the smaller rear cogs?

Look of horror when I mention getting an eBike

@Over50 We have shower facilities where I work, and they make life much easier. They're a real godsend in winter when you need help warming up after 45-50 minutes of riding in sub-freezing temps.

Look of horror when I mention getting an eBike

I'm 54 and enjoy riding my conventional and e-bikes. I'm perfectly capable of riding the 12 miles to and from work, but I wanted a way to reduce my commute time w/o driving. With my pedal-assist bike I save 10-15 minutes on the way to work, and 20-25 minutes on the way home (compared to my...

    Bosch battery charging question

It seems that I wasn't waiting long enough for the battery to fully charge. When the fifth LED stopped flashing, all five LEDs turned off.

    Bosch battery charging question

When you charge your Bosch battery, does the fifth LED continue flashing when the charge is complete, or does it turn solid?

    Hello from Colorado

You and me, both. I only noticed it after I posted the photo. When I swap out the stock stem I'll get it lined up properly.

Do any of you use a service-stand when cleaning/ servicing your Stromer-bikes ?

@ST2 That's a great looking setup. Very clever. Now may we please see some more pics of the bus in the background?

    Hello from Colorado

Greetings from Boulder County, Colorado. My name is Mark, and I'm an engineer and blogger. I've been commuting 2-3 days per-week for the past six years, but am hoping to bump that up to 5 days per-week with my new IZIP E3 Peak+. My wife rides a Haibike 27.5+ hardtail, and she loves how it allows...

Any idea what these parts are?

Those go in between the disc brake pads when you remove the wheels. They prevent the brakes' pistons from being pushed out too far (on hydraulic systems).

Nice write-up. If you're keen to experiment further, I highly recommend the Jones Loop bar.

Cleaning sand and dirt off a fat tire bike

@mrgold35 Those fork stanchion covers often hold dirt, and can actually cause more wear-and-tear than if left uncovered. Like NM, Colorado is very dusty. My favorite chain lubes are the ones from Dualco. The Hot/Dry formula runs exceptionally clean, and outlasts the wax-based lubes that I've...

    Anyone else get a Cobi

I have one, but haven't put it through the wringer yet (it's on my wife's Haibike).

    Commuter Upgrade

Are class-3 bikes allowed on the dirt trails in your area? I'm in a similar situation--been commuting via bicycle 2-3 days/week for 6 years, but want to bump it up to 5 days/week. My route is 12 miles, and 15-20% of that is dirt and gravel. In my experience, even a very efficient conventional...

Sizes of seat post and handles bar clamp

To get the most from the Jones bars you may want/need to run a shorter stem. Many people run stems that are too long, and they end up not being able to take advantage of all the different grips/positions.
