The cops here wouldn't recognize an ebike, especially if you were riding it just like a bike (and not like a rocket ship). Other bike riders occasionally notice of course, but there are no specific laws I'm aware of.

By "can do better" means, "you should be able to find a great mountain ebike for a price lower than $5K." What that ebike is I don't know, but $5K seems like a lot of money (at least it does to me).

For $5K it should serve you coffee in bed. Does it do that? If yes, buy it. If no, you can do better.

My guess is it takes about 2 hrs to fully charge my phone from an external charging pack. I've never had to do that during a ride, though. My rides are less than 2 hours in elapsed time and I still have some phone power left upon completing.

I have an external battery pack charger, which can charge my smartphone up to about 2.5 times from empty. It's small, it's compact, and it works well. It's also more economical than trying to change out components on the bike to rig something up. I've never run out of phone power completely...

I purchased some cheapie white vinyl on ebay, so the color was not an exact match. I knew it wouldn't be since the eMotion paint color is an off white.
