Vendors and users, will you give your thoughts about ultra-visible ebike lighting?

This is one reason that keeps cyclists, and specifically ebikers, from commuting or replacing the car for local errands. If you don't have safe bike paths and ways to stay out of traffic it's a crapshoot of safety. So many distracted drivers you have to ride very defensively if you're going to...

    Panniers for thick tubing?

@rich c - would like to see a picture of your setup, if you'd be so kind.

    Water bottle carriers

I use this water bottle bracket on my handlebars. Works for me as I sip water often and need the bottle to be close and easy to reach while still pedaling.

Yep it would be a great upgrade... maybe next year.

I wish they had a speed pedelec that was a step thru. That Evo City Nitro has specs I'd love, but the geometry and frame are a no go for me.

    From Our Friends at BH

What a fantastic update and report! Thank you so much for sharing @J.R. I was born and raised in Western PA but haven't lived there since I went to college across the country. The name change to "BH" is really good. I personally don't like the "Easy Motion" moniker. In fact on my Evo...

Mirror for wide ergonomic handlebar grips

Ditto the Mirrycle. I added that mirror to my Easy Motion Street a few months ago and it's fantastic! Easy to install.

    Car replacement

I'm so impressed! I'm quite wary of the traffic around me as we don't have dedicated bike lanes, which makes me a bit nervous, plus I don't have a good pannier solution. I have a rack bag but it's small and only holds my fix kit and a few tools. But this is inspiring!

    Ebike battery powered tire pump

Yeah I couldn't see how that would be used on non-Luna ebikes. For instance, the Easy Motion batteries use a proprietary plug configuration that is not common and one I've never seen before.

SF commute bike (8.8 roundtrip, hills, 2nd floor apartment)?

That's a crowdfunded project on IndiGoGo that is not out yet and the project owner reported a month ago that one of their manufacturer's essentially scammed them, so it looks like they are way, way behind on production... you will need a different lock.

SF commute bike (8.8 roundtrip, hills, 2nd floor apartment)?

The only ebike I'm familiar with is the one I purchased in 2015, which you can see in my avatar. Easy Motion Evo Street. However, the Easy Motion line is a good one but their price point tends to be higher than your stated range.

SF commute bike (8.8 roundtrip, hills, 2nd floor apartment)?

I lived in SF for many years, I know those hills. Get the most powerful motor and battery you can within your budget. And get the most massive chain you can with a big ass boron lock for stowing your bike at home. By big ass chain, I'm talking about ones like 19mm that weigh like 20lbs and a...

SF commute bike (8.8 roundtrip, hills, 2nd floor apartment)?

Dragging an ebike (even with walk assist) up 2 flights of stairs sounds like an exercise in daily frustration. Question: where you live is there anywhere in your building you could stash and lock up your ebike securely rather than drag it upstairs? A garage? Is there a backyard area that...

    Best Lock for Ebikes

I purchased this huge beefy padlock (XENA XSU69) a few years ago (from the UK, as I could not find it in the US). It needs a big beefy chain. I tried an Abus chain but the links were not wide enough for the 18mm diameter of this beefy boy. I don't think anyone would mess with this one and...

ShareRoller - Quick and Dirty Electric Bikes

Personally I'm done with crowdfunding. The Noke ULock was the last thing I funded and fortunately I got my money back when they blew through their first big deadline in 2015. I said, "never again," and I meant it.

    Best Lock for Ebikes

The *best* deterrent is an armed guard standing right by your ebike 24/7, looking menacing at anyone who comes within 10 ft, anytime you park your bike outside while you're not with the bike or the bike is not with you. That could be expensive, I imagine ;), so In lieu of hiring one or more...

    Best Lock for Ebikes

Make sure your home owner policy has a deductible level that you are okay paying because in case of ebike theft you still have to pay that deductible, even though the ebike is 100% covered.

Help deciding on E-bike for longer commute

My advice: if you're contacting a retail cycling and sales shop to see if their bike mechanics will service your ebike, tell them you already have an ebike and have moved to the area and want to find a local shop to do the necessary service and maintenance. Also, another tip: look for...

DIY Hack: Add Flashing Red LED Light to Helmet Back

Just a simple DIY hack. I didn't have a good place to clip my red flashing LED light so I looked at my bike helmet and realized that would be a good place to clip it. (See pictures) I cut a small strip of a stretchy thick fabric fastener I had and superglued each end halfway around the center...
